Default Type R turbo Help

OK, I know im gona hear alot for this, but im considering turboing my ITR. I was wondering of a way i can get Decent setup, and decent power... I was wondering if i were to use LS piston and so forth if i could Use an ls turbo kit safely on my car. I was looking and the average used turbo for an ls is 1500 - 2000. My friend has an ls hatch that he will probly let me get some parts out of. WhaT SHOULD I DO, AND WHAT SETUP? remember im not looking for crazy power, oly enough to get maybe 220- 230 whp... let me know

Turbokit - How much do you want to spend? There's many options out there.

EMS - Do you want to DIY? If so go with Uberdata or Chrome. Other options include AEM/Haltech/Motec/Autronic but it's what you want to spend (again).

Tuning - Either tune it yourself (if you have the know-how) or get it tuned by a PRO in your area. If there's no one in your area you could fly someone in (Hey Mase ).

The Type R motor is as potent as any out there and when TUNED correctly rules The above suggestions should point you in the right direction

just keep your itr motor as it is unless you want to build it, but to make that power you should be straight with a straight set up and good tuning.

Ive realized to do that you may end up spending about the same, But again I would take my ITR to the track, if so, I would want to be in the low 13's.. But if i were to turbo i want to know what maybe i would need to do to get there? What setup and so forth.. Will the LS parts help and what not...

a turbo kit from an ls should work w/ a typer. get a decent setup(stay away from the cheap *** SS autochrome manifolds) buy or download some good engine mgmt. i.e: hondata, uberdata, chrome, aem ems, motec, etc. get that baby tuned and dont up the boost unless you have the parts to back it up

i'm running T04b 50 trim /T3 .48 a/r stage 2 wheel. at 260whp no traction problems in second on street tires. you could do just fine on stock motor as long as its in good shape, don't expect it to last a long time though.. don't bother swapping ls pistons or any ls parts onto itr, unless its turbo parts they'll have same fitment.

I say search a hell of alot more before you actually turbo it. Having LS pistons has NOTHING to do with being able to use a LS turbo kit. If you just want decent power, aroudn 250whp. You could make that on like 6-7 psi with your ITR.

Turbo Integra with 220whp...what's the point? If that's all you wanted you would probably be better off buying a Integra LS to begin with. It would put alot of money in your pocket.

Might want to look into a simple greddy kit though for your type r or maybe even a supercharger since your goals aren't that high.

Its not that my goals arent high and the pistons is not for just the kit, the ls parts would be to lower the compression and my goal is to not have that much horse power so i can still handle well, I dont want to go around a corner and not catch traction for hell, i belive i know my goal is a good one, i want a well balenced car..

I would def keep the itr pistons and run 7 psi and you should have no problem hitting your goal with still making it a reliable car.

I've got a friend that has a type R turboed with 420fwhp with stock bottom end. He's just put a thicker headgasket, turbo cams, injectors, and hondata. I'd stick to the type R block

Why would he do that.

The most reliable kit you can buy is a greddy one.

I 2nd the Greddy comment... reliable and the kit is pretty much complete. You might not even need a BOV or intercooler to get 220 HP on 6 PSI but I'd get them anyway.

Possibly, the most reliable turbo kit will be the one installed by someone familiar with that particular kit If you're not installing it yourself, talk to your local tuner, see what they recommend.

Not that it matters, but the greddy kit isn't advertised for the B18C5. Not an issue really, just FYI.

WHy buy another engine, with the ITR high comp. it takes less boost to get ur goals.
Also, wtf would you get ls pistons for, if your gonna turbo and spend the time to put new pistons in, put something in there that is forged, you get what u pay for is all i can say, do it right the first time, and keep the ITR.
