I am in the market for a street friendly twin right now, you are definately not the first person that has stripped the splines out of the CC Twins, contact them about fixing it I have seen this issue posted enough to confirm I wont run a CC on the street.

Re: twin disc on the street????
yep i have the new style discs and one set of the old cm style discs and both are f-ed i thought the new disc would fix this problum but i geuss i was worng.
i just took my car apart and found out that when the discs striped out they took out my input shaft too which looked brand new when i installed the clutch. so now if i want to put the car back together i need to pull the tranny apart and replace the input shaft aswell......

Re: twin disc on the street????
back in the day when I first bought my CC twin, it lasted about 500miles before the center splines on the discs stripped out. My input shaft was fine and perfect. I made a post on here and heard everything from dowel pins to hanging the tranny off the clutch during install. Sent my discs to CC and they said I bent the discs (which looked flat to me) but I said whatever, needed to get the car running so I bought a pair of new discs from them. At this time, I hadn't really heard of anyone else with this issue. It was a year or two later that I found CC had an issue with there discs doing this and I wasn't the only one.
but the new discs are still in my car and I drive my car on the street every now and then. I'd say they have a couple thousand miles on them now as its been in the car for about 3years now if not longer.

Re: twin disc on the street????
I had an exedy twin in a 450hp eg I drove around for 5000 hard miles, and about 5 track runs before I sold it. I was suprised how good it still looked when I pulled it.

Re: twin disc on the street????
kind of a dumb question, but are all the dowel pins in place where the tranny bolts too the block?
I had the same issue with my sr20det motor and a local shop here that rebuilds clutches ask me this question... I replaced the clutch and made sure the dowel pins were all there and never had the issue again.... not saying this is your issue, but it may be something to double check..

Re: twin disc on the street????
I had a CC twin for a few K ,dd and track use without any issues . i have found that the ACT max xtreme and xtreme clutch combo works best if u drive the car on the street.....

Re: twin disc on the street????
I totally agree, I ran the regular xtreme and my friend ran the max xtreme both of us were making over 500whp/370+tq daily and drove every day on the street. My xtreme did not survive nearly as long as the max xtreme though.

Re: twin disc on the street????
Every time I try and be fair in regards to CC, and not completely judgmental, I read another story about a failed clutch of theirs. There is something seriously wrong with their manufacturing process these days. There never used to be nearly as many complaints about their product as I've seen in recent months.

Re: twin disc on the street????
competition twin disc since lune 2008 drive 700 mles to and back from the track monthly, and every weekend joy ride, street tuning, 65k launches and destroying 3 transmissions. clutch has about 50k miles on it used in 3 setups. 620hp and 445tq, and still flawless.
makes annoying metal rubbing noise and my pedal squeaks, but whenever it gose out it will be replaced with another. competition clutches, best damn clutch on the market.

Re: twin disc on the street????
the car was making 400/280 and was not being beat on. the really gay part is that i cant just get a new set of discs and put it back together, i need to do a tranny rebuild too.

Re: twin disc on the street????
quartermaster twin 7.25 w/ sintered iron discs in a 1g awd eclipse. engagement is harsh from a stop but allows for the car to shift great from a roll. the discs also make a great deal of noise so other drivers tend to pay attention at stop lights. overall though, i love the clutch because its so much lighter than a standard single disc.
