TurboEdit, Uberdata, In Car Computer, etc.
Ok, gotta 91 Prelude here, has a JDM b20a and an OBD-1 setup here. All stock for now, turbo planned in two months.
My first choice was TurboEDIT.. however I keep reading and they mention OBD-0 plenty of times, and never OBD-1. Are they only OBD-0?
Second choice is Uberdata.. apparently only for OBD-1.
Now I see people saying 'you need a laptop to tune this correctly'.
Well, I have a bunch of computer parts laying around... in fact, for the price I could do a cheap used laptop for I can just buy a touchscreen monitor and build a in car computer.. host some MP3's, buy a GPS attachment, etc. for whatever the cost of the LCD screen is. My question is: could we use the car computer to tune the car, or is there some reason it needs to be a laptop...

car computer? not sure what you mean.
but if youre really hurting get a 12V inverter and plug in a home desktop computer in your car. BTW a desktop will die real fast in a car enviornment.
laptop for portability and simplicity reasons nothing more.
i dont tune much so I'll save my $2000 on the laptop and pay someone to tune my car.

3G Pigludes already have 24 tooth CRANK sensors in the distributor - your car is a wierd hybrid of OBD0 and OBD1 Electronics.
You are stuck either buying an OBD1 conversion harness and ECU and going OBD1, or buying (and fitting) an OBD0 distributor and PM6 ECU and going OBD0.
The choice is yours.

i'm not familiar with the complications that J.Davis mentioned, however i do not doubt him. personally if i was you, i would convert to OBD1 (whatever that takes) and run uberdata. it is not true that you need a laptop to tune it correctly. what you need in car is some type of datalogging of air fuel ratio versus RPM. if you use a wideband like the techedge, then you will need a computer to log with (but nothing as complicated as you're talking with touch screens, etc....you only need the computer to tune, not to drive around with every day). your other option would be to get the innovative wideband which allows you to log to a chip and then download the data to a computer (at your house). you could then burn a chip (at your house) and make another run, repeat, etc. in this case the only way a laptop is nice is that you can pull over and burn a new chip, rather than driving home to burn one.
In car computer is basically a desktop computer torn down to the barebone to fit it in the car and hooking an LCD screen to it.
The b20a Preludes are OBD-0, however all you need is a OBD-1 wiring harness and ECU to convert to OBD-1. The b21 Prelude's are OBD-1. My Prelude has a b20a shortblock, but b21 everything else.. so it is OBD-1 as well.
So then Uberdata would be the best for OBD-1?
