Default Turbo: wrong way and need help

Hey guys im fairly new to the turbo thing. I have a t3/4 turbo with the downpipe and all other piping. Having a problem mouning and finding a turbo manifold. I have some pics up and to me this is the only way it can be mounted with the outlet facing towards the front of the car. I dont see another way of mounting or findng a way to run piping to the IM wihile still using AC. Is there a way to dissasemble the turbo from the hot side and turning it a whole 90degress so that the outlet coud be facing the ground?

There should be some bolts along the outside edge of the compressor housing. Unbolt, remove compressor housing, and clock as necessary.

I highly doubt you'll be able to clear A/C with the compressor on the driver side, no matter how you clock it. You need to get an A/C compatible manifold and matching downpipe. Buying some random downpipe and hoping it'll fit whatever manifold you might decide to get doesn't make much sense.

Do you mean these bolts, do all I do is clock the housing, how tight to I rebolt the bolts?

Yes, the one in the bottom right hand corner. Should be bolts all around the compressor housing.

ah got it, thanks, I was trying to find a manifold that they didnt make, lol. Im going to try to find an ac compatible manifold now, I already have the down pipe. I do believe that the cast maniolds are the shortest, and how hard is it to run piping with the compressor on the driver side? can it be done?

downpipes arent universal buddy. you want to buy a downpipe made for the manifold your using.

or get ready to cut and weld the one you already have...

that manifold might be ac compatible but it wont be the the downpipe you have, you would have to turn the turbo 180 degrees so that the downpipe would be on the drivers side.....

when i bought my h22 xs power kit ( <--me) i started mocking everything up and i noticed the compressor def. couldnt run on the dr. side cause the whole damn compressor would have been in the alternator, then i turned it the other way and i had to cut my block a ton. i got everything in and went to put the downpipe in and if i would have bolted it in like they had it the d/p would have been pointing out the grille. i had to cut and weld the **** out of it. i had more time in the downpipe then i did mounting the rest of the stuff, well until the intercooler piping, but im not even going there....

like everyone else said you are going to have to fab out of that one or get the right one for your manifold choice...

sucks huh!

Basicly all ebay/china turbo kits are designed for a motor that's totally removed from the engine bay with ALL accessories removed...including the oil pan in some cases. AC? HA! Electical charging system on an H22? No way

Looks like he does have an XS power turbo/dp. The dp may last a while if every weld is cut off & redone (since it won't fit with a diff manifold), but I'll chance a guess the turbo barely makes it 1k miles before the oil shooting into the compressor makes a smokescreen nobody will want to admit to owning.

i was thinking it was too, but i didnt want to be the one to say it. when they designed the "ramhorn" manifold i had on my f20b they def. didnt accomadate for the alternator. the turbo had to have the compressor on the pass side like i said earlier, and the wastegate conviently dumped directly on top of the alternator... i had a hell of a time getting a dump tube on there, it was 1 1/2 piping, and it was hammered flat in a few places so it wasnt resting directly on the alternator... suprisingly it didnt creep, ill have to post a pic of it sometime, it was nasty. now im alleviating all the problems by making my own...

sorry for the hi-jack, i tend to do that more often than not lately... \

Yea i see what you all are saying, I might have to cut and weld my down pipe or get anotgher one so that I can rotate my compressor to the passanger side. Im looking at some cast maniolds.
