Turbo w/o intecooler?
Is it okay to run the GReddy turbo kit on my car without an intercooler for a little while? I have enough for the kit and the instal can be done, but being in college I won't have enough for the intercooler until a little later on. I have heard it isn't to bad for it but it won't generate as much power. I understand this and am willing to take that as it comes but this money is burning a whole in my pocket and if I don't hurry up and spend it it might go to some huge racing strips! Someone tell me before I do the ungodly! I won't be running that much boost nor will I be driving the car to often. Thanks for your help.

Dont "stay on it" for extended periods of time either. Heat is your enemy...... Try to at least put your intake filter somewhere COLD

At >6psi, you should be fine. The Greddy kit doesn't even come STANDARD with an intercooler. At those boost levels, you won't lose alot of horsepower, the concern should be higher risk of detonation. Again, you should be good

You have a higher chance of detonation. Get a Mitsubishi Eclipse intercooler of the internet for like $50 and run that for temporary.

as long as you don't push your car hard, for an extended period of time....and like immortal said stay in the low boost range, your car will be fine. yes, it will make your already unimpressive Greddy kit hp#s even worse.

So are you saying I shouldn't go GReddy in the first place? I don't have much money and the mass production of the GReddy kit makes my year at about the 1500 range and that's why I have been looking so heavly into it. I know its not that much power but will I not even get respect from the people who are killing me now?

Greddy kit without intercooler at 5.5, probably expecting no more then 40HP gain, I would think less than that. Had a greddy with intercooler only gained 50HP. Then he added 370cc injectors, V-AFC, Boost controller, 3mm greddy headgasket, and bumped up to 12psi with his D16Z EX motor 98' ran 14.2, probably bad tires but HP is still limited. The 18G turbo in the GSR kit has much more potenial. Then again, how much HP can EX motor handle stock?

ugh, you all are really bringing down my party..for an understandable reason, but ugh..anyone want to trade a D16Z for a B16 or 18? Its a fair trade I swear.

For get around the town power the greddy is ok. For racing, unless your gonna do internals and run like 15-20psi, your screwed.
