Default turbo a sohc vtec?

I have a 99 civic ex with the d16y8 sohc motor and i have searched through posts and found that the greddy turbo kit will give the car 40-50 hp. What kinda of stats or times would i be runnin in the 1/4 or 0-60. Or say i didnt go with the turbo and i started sprayin. Maybe a 50 shot direct port? Open to any suggestions. thanks.

Get the Greddy 15G kit. One of the mods (RiceyMcricertion) has that setup, and he likes it.

Greddy kit is nice but I'd suggest building your own kit. Get the turbo that suits you the first time. When I was running the greddy kit on my car it was good for the 5 psi but once I wanted to raise it the turbo wasn't big enough to hold the power up top. Anything above 8 psi sucks after 3rd gear vtec.

everyone has their own perspective, there are people out there with boosted sohc's.. though i wouldn't spend 2500 on a boost kit for a sohc..

http://www.homemadeturbo.com
http://www.turbod16.com (excellent source)

you can piece together a kit for a grand or so.

ive never been a big fan of nos, but you can put down close to 200 hp or more with some good tuning (of course) on a turbo d16

I ran a 14.5@95mph at like 8psi with lots of wheel spin on my greddy kit with a sidemount...with slicks i could hit low 14's maybee even 13's and its not really tuned and it has stock injectors. Since i upgraded to the front mount im loosing traction in second. Plus this is in a heavy ex coupe with a pretty heavy owner, haha. Trust me you will be happy

you should take your time to read here and learn... this way you will be able to buy all the part you need to get a better setup than the Greddy kit. I personnaly get the Greddy kit for my sohc... I liked it but its nothing compare to a homemade kit

He is right, but its so easy to get the greddy kit you just buy it and slap it on, no worries about little parts...plus its cheap. At 9psi my turbo just cant pull its weight or something? cause it drops boost as the revs go up and its not leaking anywhere...so he is right that the homemade one is better but the greddy is great too. It wont even come close to a turbo b18b though and those motors are cheap as hell too, that will be next move. I hope we helped you out a little.

man D series motors are a waste of time i wouldnt even bother . now if you get a b16 and put an intake on it , you can run high 15's for the same price of turboing your D , how dope is that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Greddy kit is the best kit you can buy if you dont know much about turbos. i bought one, i learned alot. im selling it now but the experience is worth it. its hard to learn everything about turbo setups online, like i did. i have few car friends.

btw here my kit

I hate the greddy kit, I pretty much hate all kits, especially the overpriced edelbrock kit. Do your research and cuild a custom kit if you can. You will have a better kit and save a **** load of money. With slicks and the right setup you will be running low 13's and high 12's no problem and making anywhere from 200-225whp. Good fuel management and tuning is the key.

haha man i sure hope you ****** around..im kinda sick and out of it.

Honestly..if you plan on going for the gusto and trying to be as fast as you can be then i suggest you spend more cash and go the extra mile on parts that can carry you through what you want to do or to reach your goals..dont get me wrong the greddy kits a good one..and so is the DRAG kit..but before anything ask yourself what you want to do with your car, how fast you want to be etc. always start with a goal and a basic idea of what you want to do before you start F*ckin with youre car.

and now that i said that i think im going to go eat some chicken soup, take some medicine, watch a little T.V. and wait for my girl to get off of work.

Good luck to ya.
