turbo selection (500-600hp)
gettin my stuff together and rebuilding. I'm basically shooting for 500 to 550whp street/and track. I'd like to avoid the 5 bolt hotside. would like full boost by around 4000-4500ish
Sleeved h22 (not sure on compression yet 9.5:1 or 10:1)
what do you guys think, i've been searching for 2-3 hours and my head hurts

Re: turbo selection (b16hybridsol)
GT35R is going to be the only turbo that even gives you hope of having full spool by 4000-4500, and thats only cause its going on a 2.2L. Personally id go strait T4 though on an H22, the bigger hot side really helps out on these motors. My buddy's running a 60-1 w/ .81 T4 hot side on his stock H22. Gets 10psi about 4500 but makes 350whp. The thing hauls *** and has a great powerband.
btw, you can get 4 bolt housings from precision too.

Re: turbo selection (ben@importparts.com)
would i benefit from a t4 .63ar hot side or should i go smaller, everyone is suggesting the t3 hot sides but i want to possibly knock it up in the future alittle, i guess throw out the full spool idea, what ever can give me a somewhat smooth powerband. and if you guys can send me some links where i can get these

Re: turbo selection (b16hybridsol)
Everyone who tells you to run a T3 hot side probably has a B series engine. From what ive seen w/ engines and turbo's in general, bigger displacement engines like bigger turbine housings. At 5-600hp I think the T3 housing is going to be a major choker on a 2.2L engine.

Re: turbo selection (m R g S r)
because it literally took me 15 minutes to remove or screw in " the 5th bolt" and it pissed me off more and more each time, i'll probably endup going with a v-band setup

and do you think on a bigger bore B series the 84-85mm motors that t t3 also cant flow enough? </TD></TR></TABLE>
When you get up around 600hp, any of these motors are going to see nice power gains by switching to T4 housings. But I think the B series get away with it alot better though then the H. Because of the fact that they rev so high and in turn do not make as large of torque #'s.
Food for thought: Supra's can make 650whp w/ PT67's, just like we can, but they do it @ 7k rpm's w/ over 500tq. they run .81ar and .68ar T4 housing's on them. What do you think they would make if they ran a T3 turbine housing?

Re: turbo selection (TurboChrgd_Civic)
I'm running a T3/67-1 also known as the T04R from Cheapturbo.com
It's a .83 a/r T3 hot side and a .70 67-1 intake side.
They have a fully done GSR with the same turbo running 27 PSI making 585 horsepower.

is the gt35r the same as the gt35/40r...also what do u think the strait gt40r would spool at on h22 or h23 vtec? i want big whp, 600 whp min, but im probley going to use this car on the track(road course) so i dont want all hight end power. nice smooth band.

for a road racing car you are not going to want a turbo that is capable of 600whp. It is just not gonna have the response that you need. You can really only have one or the other. The GT35R is actually the GT3540R, just in short hand. A strait GT40R would be perfect for making above 600whp but they are not easy to come by!

Exactly the same reason why my next turbo will also be 4 bolt.
