Default turbo question

does anyone know how to take the oil pressure sending unit off on a d-series engine. There is a 24mm bolt or something size bolt that is attached to it but is there a way to take it apart without taking the bolt off.

dont know D series, but its gotta be the same, the unit and nut are one piece, disconnect the wire and remove, there shouldnt be too much oil coming out there when the car has been off for a 5 minutes. just stuff a bit of rag in the hole if thats what you are afraid of.

hmm.. so the sender can not be disconnected without removing the nut? it looks like i might have to remove the intake mani to get to the nut. can't seem to get a wrench in there from the bottom.

i agree, you can take it off with the wire on there, you just have to be careful. the way mine is there is little phillips head screw holding the wire on, so just unscrew that then take the 24mm wrench and take the oil pressure sending unit off. you DO NOT have to take the intake manifold off, TRUST ME! You just need the proper tools, thats all. Good Luck!

Is the nut around the sender on a D-series also 24mm? I tried to take it off the other day, but I've only got a 19mm wrench! and it was WAY too tight for the crescent. don't wanna strip it.

I used a plumbers wrench wrapped in a towel to take it off since I didn't have the right size wrench. Ya know, channel grips.

I also did it when I changed my oil because its so much easier to work in there from below with the oil filter removed.

I thought about using the vise-grips (guess the same thing) but, it was being a bitch to just fit them up in there. I was under the car and had the filter off...I guess I'll try again...gotta get a feed tapped in for the turbo in my near future
