buying a used turbo is a risk so i wanted to know if at all any how much play is alright both ways and what to look for when buying a used turbo.

 

Even a good used turbo will and should have some slight in and out and side to side shaft play, not having any oil in the turbo causes this slight play. If the shaft has a bunch of up and down play dont buy it. Also stay way from no name china turbos even if in good shape, only buy name brand turbos.

 

thats my goal, right now I'm trying to buy a blown turbo (ko3) for 20$ so i can take it part and learn every thing about them before i go buy a turbo for my teg.
