Default Buying a used turbo........NEED SOME ADVICE!!

i noticed in the faq there was a post about buying a used jrsc, but what about a turbo? if i buy a used turbo, what do i need to look for to make sure that it is in as good of shape as the seller claims? Im a little new to this, but i want to do my research.......

things like a turbo, i would just buy a new one, you will never know the condition of one, unless you are good friends with the seller

alright, well i was hoping for some more input.........anyway, i was planning on purchasing this garrett gt28r from yehiknowrite off of honda-tech......here is the link to his ad.........

there is a stud that has to be replaced, but other than that he claims it to be mint condition.........any opinions?

The turbo could have shaft play, then i wouldnt buy it. Wouldnt buy a used one anyways

your not gonna know it unless the seller tells you, or you can see the turbo before buying it, shaft is if you can wiggle the shaft around

Did you see the of the exhaust side is very dark? It has a 1 broken bolt stuck in there. With that price, you could buy a new one with one of the venders here $50 more.

Yup, check for broken bolts, studs and shaft play. Look for signs of seal failure. Spots where there are excessive oil that stand out from the rest.
