Default Turbo planning

Im planning my turbo setup on my GSR for this spring. Im going with the Revhard Stage 2c kit. But Im really hung up on the exhaust. Im not going all out so I dont really want a super loud exhuast. My friend is telling me a 3" Thermal is the only way to go. Im thinking something more scaled back, like the Comptech which is 2.5" even tho its meant for N/A. Since the Revhard kit comes with a 2.5" down pipe, could'nt I get by with the Comptech cat back? How much power would this cost me, if im only considering running a modest 6-8psi? What other good turbo exhausts are there? Thx for the help.

Any 3 inch exhaust will help you a lot! If you going to get an exhaust stick with a 3 inch exhaust even if you are only plannign to run low boost. Also you might want to gut out your cat or even just run a straight pipe. That helps out a lot! You will gain some horsepower with just a 3" exhaust.

I agree, a 3" exhaust is the way to go even for 6-8psi, there is still a great amount of exhaust flowing. Just get the 3" thermal!

any ideas how much power difference we're talking about with just a .5" difference in piping? cant be more than 5hp at 8psi.

i would get the 3" thermal...creates less back pressure for the turbo at any boost level

if you do a search, someone was saying the hp gain between a 2.5 and 3 inch exh is only noticable with high boost. something to think about.

yes...but others have noted that they gained power(~20hp) and have quicker spool up with low boost.

a 3 inch will always be good w/ turbo regardless. but it might be loud. (never heard one personally) if you arent really planning on going all out just daily driving totally reliable i think either one would be fine? but its up to you.

your right....i totaly agree with the quicker spool up and the hp gains. But if this guy is just looking for something as a daily driver then IMO i would go with the 2.5.
Here is a search i did...

3 inch is the way to go like everyone said, so what if its a daily driver! There isnt any problems with realibility with a 3 inch exhaust. Also my car is more quiet now with a 3" exhaust as compared to a 2.5" exhaust I had before. Expect to see gains of 10-22 hp depending on the amount of boost. Anything less then a 3" exhaust is like you breathing through a straw, let your turbo breath.

HTH

I think its a smart idea not to go too big on your exhaust. after awhile those three inch exhaust make your car a pain to drive. It also attracts a lot of unwanted attention, and makes your neighbors hate you.
