ive been working on tuning my buddys built ls vtec with a sc61, but it just doesnt seem to make power at 20lbs it only made 325hp with 19* timing.

the motor is:

eagle rods
wiseco pistons 8.5 to 1
b16 head
drag manifold
sc61

once it hits 7k the power just drops off like the motors choking. from everything ive seen 15lbs to should make almost 400.

 

Check your cams if there off a one by one tooth it will rob power

 

Sounds like the phone cord isn't plugged in.

Or VTEC's not engaging.

 

he was having problem before with vtech not engaging before the motor was rebuild. were using a s300 to tune it. before the rebuild when you set it to follow vtech it would never change maps but now its change to the high speed map just fine. im gonna have some more time with it this weekend gonna check the cams and timing.

sounds like vtec not engauging or that poorly designed drag manifold choking the crap out of that motor

 

what size exhaust is on the car???????

 

2.5 or 3 inch dont remember off the top of my head

 

First issue I see is the Drag manifold. What cams is it running? Exhaust size could also cause an issue. Injector size, pump type and fuel type?

 

hmmm also what size downpipe.............

 

Lets see the dyno sheet. It may be helpful.

 

walbro 255 pump
base pressure is 40psi at idle
aem fuel rail
550cc injectors running 78% duty cycle @ 7k rpms
93 octane gas
2.5 down pipe
stock cams i believe with cam gears not sure how thye are set though or if the person who put the motor back together set the right

no dyno sheet at the moment

 

i have in problems with my b16 when the vtec is suppose to ingage it makes a loud bogging sound and cuts out and i cant seem to find the problem. will some one help me please. i changed the solonoid and im still geting the same problem. also it seems like all my power is not there.
