Default Turbo Legality?

I was wondering the legality issues of turbo? It seems apparent to me that a custom setup is not going to be legal, and wouldn't pass inspections. So the logical route seems to be to go with a legal kit such as a Greddy. So what do you custom people do in reguards to legality of the setup? I'm about to go turbo very very soon if my crx sells today, and this thought just crossed my mind. Also Im not the kind of person that can take it off then put it back on. Am I overthinking this?
