Re: Turbo Info for all (non-VTEC)
actually it was them that pointed me here. i was looking for info on custom intake manifold designs... plenum length/dia. my intake doesnt flow enuf for 20psi running thru it.
the reason i dont post in honda forums much is most honda guys get violent toward anyone who doesnt drive a honda.
im not trying to start an argument, im just trying to share the wealth of knowlege that i have to share. ive built 6 custom from the ground up turbo kits in the last 2 years.... escorts, civics, aerios, list goes on. i also run a fab shop building custom parts.
it doesnt matter what kind of car you drive, what matters is whos got the turbo.

Re: Turbo Info for all (marclar)
Im not trying to hate because you don`t drive a honda, this place is actually way more diverse than you might think (half of the GDD are muscle car guys ha ha). There are good writeups here but you really have to search. Lately 99% posts are questions that have been answered 592384323432 x 10` times. You will get the occasional jackass that will tell you to go back to your ford forum though . Some navigation tips would be to stay out of the model specific forums because they are for noobs (except the type r forum, that is for the showoffs ) the best info is in the technical forums. You might have better luck finding IM info in the fabrication or NA forum.

Re: Turbo Info for all (ProjectDarkBlack)
can't hate on info. I read it for fun and learned something new today
"first: the fmu doesnt really do anything till about 2-3 psi.. any fmu period. even at 3 psi, you will be lucky to get a 5psi rise in FP. when i (and many others) used an fmu on our cars, at 8psi it was only at 75-80psi FP on a good day. the 115psi at 7psi is all theoretical and mathmatical.. not reality. check it yourself if you would like.
the MAF and pcm are capable of dealing with about 1-2psi stock on any car reguardlesss of its make. this is mainly why the fmu does nothing thru 3psi.. then after the pcm drops off, the fuel pressure rises to compinsate "

Re: Turbo Info for all (adseguy)
Good info about the oil pressure requirements of a turbocharger.
Is this standard for all turbos? (are all internal bearing clearances the same?)
15-25 psi?
I wonder how a 2.0L escort turbo motor would compare against a similar type of Honda motor with the same size turbo's and accessories, like say a B20 for instance?

Well now you have a lot of info to play with. Mainly Displacment 1.8 vs 2.0, rod angle, and compression are the biggest. You then take into consideration powerbands with cams and higher flowing heads....the list could go on forever. The easiest way is to just take a car and do it.
