Turbo ideas?
I have a cx hatch with a 97 ITR motor/tranny and I want to boost it, but I'm thinking about building a B16 turbo block for it, what can I do to reach my goal of about 300-350whp? Turbo set up ideas, head work, etc. I just need to know what I can do to reach my goal and I don't need a real badass turbo set up either, just one to get my desired power. Or anyone have any other ideas?

Keep the ITR if you already have it, probablt the best all around motor honda ever made imo. The stock head/cams will support 500+ whp easily. All you need to do is drop the compression down to around 9:1 and boost. If I was you I would just get some forged rods/pistons and throw them in your motor. You will be able to put down as much power as you want with a good tuner and your goals of 300-350 will be no problem.

I think I'd build a B16 with forged internals for it, just because people pay crazy $ for ITR swaps, so you could sell the ITR for enough to fund the entire project. For the head I'd just get a good valve job and a set of GSR cams for it, no reason to go crazy if you're only looking for 300-350.

True, but if you did the B16 engine build I would look for a B18c1/5 bottom end to build and defintely swap in ITR/GSR cams. If he already has the ITR motor I wouldn't get rid of it. It's 1.8L and the stock head is sick! I'm all about saving money, but I am lazy as well, so I would rather do less work lol. So I guess it just dpeneds on if you would rather be lazy or save a little money.

Yeah, we should ask what the budget is for this project. ITR's just **** me off sometimes because of what people pay for them. A good set of GSR cams can be found for $50-$75, depending on how much he wants to shop around, while ITR/CTR cams go for hundreds. The ITR/CTR cams may be better, I just don't think they are several times better.

I already have GSR cams in my possesion. and I think I'm going to do a b16 turbo block with the ITR head. That will give me all the torque I can handle, but still give me enough traction at the same time on street tires. I have a friend owes me about $700 in labor, so there goes all my machineing, now I just gotta buy the parts. I'm thinking, eagle rods, Wiseco 9:1 pistons and I'll be using all honda bearings.

So, now my next problem is, what turbo set up to use. Got any suggestions? Thinking about getting a precision turbo and peicing together a kit. But unsure.
