Default Turbo GS-R

Have a bone stock GS-R with about 130,000miles on it. Getting ready to start piecing together a turbo kit but overall just wanted some extra feedback on whether I should boost on my stock 10:0:1 comp ratio or if I should invest in putting some lower compression pistons in there. my OVERALL GOAL FOR THIS PROJECT is to keep the car a reliable daily motor that will run smooth with the turbo for a long time. So keep the gs-r pistons and rods or replace?

you can boost on stock as long as the engine is in good condition and you dont go crazy with your power goals. I have a 64k mile GSR and it has been boosted for about 5k now....it runs just fine. It all depends on your setup and your tune....

yeah do a leak down test and compression test to make sure the motor is still good....and if it is just leave it stock......i did a crx w/stock GSR motor and a Full-Race Stage 1 turbo kit and it made 315whp @ 7psi of boost. Very reliable!!!!

Exactly, the high milage on my motor is making want to replace the pistons so I can rest assured the motor will last a lot longer boosted. I just want a mild tune boosting around 6pounds nothing too crazy. Again something that would be suitable to drive back and forth to and from work every day.

that's not exactly high mileage either.....one of my close friends boosted his 212,000 mile Civic DX this summer and it lasted for about 2 months before he removed and sold the setup....mileage isn't a big deal, its the condition of the engine
