the whole point of gearing on a honda is to keep the car in a VTEC range. If you fall out of VTEC in a honda it will be detrimental to your time. You will lose approx 100hp in full race application. I dynoed with missing rpm chip to activate vtec and only hit 402hp with putting in a 5.2 rpm chip it jumped to 628hp so what you actually doing by dropping out of vtec is losing that much hp.

In ls application a GSR tranny would be nice to get you out of the whole.

Ok, i'm gonna get in on this topic. I've got an LS motor in a CRX, with a JDM S1 tranny. Seeing as how the JDM S1 is the equivelent to an ITR tranny, the gears are nice for N/A, but shitty for boost and highway driving(on an LS engine). Heres the gearing for an S1/J1.

1: 3.250
2: 2.052
3: 1.416
4: 1.103
5: 0.906
FD: 4.40

Now what i'm thinking is LS FD(4.266) prehaps an LS 5th. But seing as how i've never worked on the internals of a tranny before i'm wondering if ought just trade somebody my S1 for an LS............what would this LS FD net me? i'm not even sure........???

since you have an LS motor an LS tranny would not be a bad thing. I would ditch the ITR tranny unless you can do the LS 5th and FD conversion. But then since you dont have the extra 1500 rpm the VTEC engine has you might have to shift into 5th in the 1/4.

How do you put a LS final drive into a GSR tranny?

its pretty simple to change out the tranny most tranny shops that atleast know gearing can help you swap it out. its not that difficult.

im curious as to exactly which tranny would suit me fine, currently i have a gsr swappedin my civic. i'm shooting fr 200-240 whp and i'm not a track rat so my main goal is to have a quick red light sprinter. can anyone calculate which gearin would give me the optimal time w/ a 2400 lb car w/ 220 whp. (avarage of my hp goal)
