Turbo Drivetrain
i have a question about upgrading my clutch and flywheel off of my 99 civic. I will be boosting w/ GReddy's sohc turbo kit, dyno tuned w/ hondata, and was wondering since my head is a EX vtec and the tranny is dx non vtec, should i upgrade w/ a act streetlite flywheel and going w/ a stage5 clutchmasters clutch?? or since my dx gears will be soo long the stage 5 clutch shouldn't be a problem for me. i.e. snapping axles, and motor mounts, etc. if not i can just upgrade the stage5 clutch and keep the stock flywheel?? wut would be the best recommendations?? thanks in advance guys.
Is a stage 5 clutch REALLY nessessary? A stage 3 carbon/ceramic should be easier on the flywheel (and on you) and should be good to most sane levels of torque.
stage 5 necessary?? nah, but its cheap as the stage 1, stages 2,3, and 4 are $475 and stages 1 and 5 are for $375. So therefore i just thought, heck why not. also clutchmasters are BETTER than ACT's clutch, act's pressure plates are gay. I give them props on their flywheel. Comparing ACT's stage 5 and clutchmasters stage 5 the, clutchmasters isn't harsh on u as the ACT's. i.e. rattling the shiet out of ur dash, snapping axles and motormounts.but after some research, sticking w/ a clutchmasters stage 3 and ACT's streetlite flywheel is my route. thanks.
I like the ACT clutch, I have a stage4 ACT pressureplate w/ a Organic Disk. Makes it more driveable. You should look into a combo like that.
I have a B series but Im sure it'll be the same for the D also

i was suprised w/the drivability of my clutchmasters stage 4 clutch & 8lbs flywheel combo while n/a. i wouldn't go w/the stage 5 if you plan to daily drive your car, stage 3 should be good unless you plan on putting down some big numbers
