Default Turbo D16 setup

Hey guys, my setup is as follows:

My engine is a D16Y8 (Stock internals)
Garret t3/t04e turbo 47 trim with 50 a/r
SSautochrome Stainless steel turbo manifold
38mm waste gate
Greddy type s blow off valve
Chipped OBD1 P28 ECU
OBD2b to OBD1 jumper conversion harness
Precision 440cc fuel injectors w/ clips
Street imports Bar and Plate front mount intercooler..the core is 18x9x2

Is anyone running a similar setup on their D16? If so, just want to know how it runs. Please advise, thanks.

I love the T3/T4 on my D16. Mine is a 50 trim .48 A/R.

Sounds good. I'll keep you posted.

BTW, do you know of any good tuners that can install and tune my turbo?

Thanks man.

I'm running a GReddy 15g turbo kit, SAFC hack, DSM 450cc injectors and clips, Radio Shack Inline resistors, JRC intercooler, mugen exhaust, DH-Racing head, and hopefully soon a cam. Dyno numbers will be coming as well. Running 9-10psi, hoping to push 200whp. Great turbo kit, daily driving is awesome, and gas mileage is almost as good as stock.

Also, any of you know what cam is best for boost applications??

Hey Ben, its warming up here. It will be installed in April.

I'll be pushing 7-8lbs of boost on stock internals. I'm reading about all these headgasket problems with d16's. I don't have time or money if it blows......i don't know how to put it in myself and the garage charges me like $700 to replace.

I guess i'm getting more nervous since install is several weeks away.

Wow! I can't believe no one has said anything about the SSauto Manifold. Other than that good setup, but get rid of the manifold.

Thanks man.

My tuner said he can install ssac manifolds so they last. I know several people who have them and have lasted 3 years so far. I guess it's the way there mounted. I'm more worried about the headgasket.

I really can't say anything about them yet....it's still not installed on my car.

I'll be doing a compression test soon, hope numbers come out okay.

Like i said, only worry i have is the headgasket. If it blows once, i'm gonna uninstall the turbo and go n/a. Not worth headaches.

headgasket replace is simple, and to solve you problem arp head studs and an oem gasket works wonders

you got a good setup for a d series but i would highly recomend a diff mani i had the same mani but traded it bacl for my logger after i seen how crappy it is. i seen it were the flange breaks off and the only thing that holds the turbo from falling out the car is the downpipe and intercooler piping. but then again i had a few people tell me they never had a prob with them. i guees its the luck of the draw.

Okay thanks.

Anyone else who is currently running this setup and can give me feedback that would be great. When you seeing full boost, how's the lag?
