Default turbo clutch

i'm still debating on a clutch and flywheel kit: clutchmaster stage 3 or exedy cerametallic thin? cm:110% over stock, exd:72% over stock. aiming for 350whp+ with internals by end of summer. i know it's rated by torque but about how much whp will the exedy hold? personal experience or recommendatin welcomed...

We've seen people running 300+ hp with the stage 2 exedy, but do not get the thin, go with the thick cerametallic for a street car. 350 could be pushing, but it is based on torque ratings like you noted. XTSS will be a workout on your leg for a daily driver, doesn't bother some people, but you'll hate a heavy pedal in stop and go traffic.

CM 3 pedal is not hard, i have it and it softer than stock. I would have gone with stage 5 if i had known it was this soft

I have the ACT heavy duty with street disc, but I'm just like you and I'm going to have to upgrade to the Extreme with street disc, or 6puck.

But I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a huge difference between the engagement of the 6 puck vs the street disc?

soft? i hear cm stg. 3 is hard and a work out for the foot as daily driver. i rather pay a bit more for a better capacity clutch for the power to come but will it damage like my tranny or axles?

Do not listen to this guy....the Clutchmasters Stg5 is way too much for your setup and does not last long at all. It is a full drag clutch, mine made it 3k miles and it was dead. I just bought the ACT XTR6 and I heard alot of good stuff about it.

Honestly I would not recommend XTR6 for daily driver, I had one, great at the track, but it is not made for driving around town in stop and go traffic. Just my first hand experience. It also wiped out my pressure plate and XACT flywheel in less than 4 months. (my fault, because it is not made for stop and go traffic on a daily basis)

If you don't recomment the XTR6, then what do you recommend that will hold 350-400hp daily, and still be good for the track, does such a clutch exist? I'm interested to hear some opinions, because it sounds like you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Well wtf then.....lol..... I have more clutch issues, My boy had the XTR6 and when he wore it out he would just replace the disc, the pressure plate lasted more than 1.5yrs and he went through 3 disks but all he does is race.

i was thinkin bout the cm stg 3 but one of my friends ran a similar act stage 3 on a stock ls turbo and f*uped his tranny and twisted an axle. he explaind that the friction point was very thin, like letting go of the clutch then boom it catches. it also wore out really fast cause all the friction was rather wasted than used.

I use a cm stage 3 running 350whp in a itr. Lighter than stock, good grab easy in traffic, better than my Hyundai!

I don't know why people keep saying that the XTSS will be a workout. Mine is hardly a workout at all. When I first installed it, yeah.. it was kinda hard. Then after a week or so, either I got used to it or it softened up quite a bit.

Because most of these guys came from Stage 1s or stock clutches compared to them yeah its a little hard but hey you get use to it

to clarify some of this stg bullcrap...lets get him on teh right track...

stg 3 to most...is a segemented kevlar disk...obviously some manufacturers have different PP...ive used personally action & clutchmasters...the same disk material on both being kevlar...the cm is a soofter pedal feel while the action is very stiff (itll make you calf growth literally!).....both are very streetable and very comfortable to drive w/.......i ran mine n/a for awhile and after a lot of hard pullin when it heats up itll slip a bit...so i upgraded to a unsprung 4-puck....total on/off switch but it grabs hard every time...it can be streetable if you get a sprung disk...but for anything boostied....i would go less than a kevlar disk w/ strong pp....

but like youve mentioned this is a weekend warrior...so maybe a lil on the heavier side w/ a 4 or 6puck sprung disk wouldnt be all that bad either....my 4 puck hasnt sliped...and im at about 350ish...

Been using it for 4 years summer driving only about 30,000 km of absolute abuse. I circuit race it and just generally give it a beating whenever I drive it and it only slipped once at the drag strip after about 10 runs one after another(very slow night). I slipped the clutch alot to get off the line and did 2nd gear burnouts before each one. I was very impressed.
