Default Turbo B16 or B18?

I tried a search and didnt find anything helpful. Anyways, I went for a ride in my friends GSR and LOVED IT! It had a fucked ECU with single vtec enabled only and it was a good rush. Anyways, i'm going to build up a civic, but i'm not sure if I should go GSR and boost it, or B16 and boost it. I saw the article in HCI(500hp stock block) and found that to be pretty cool, but would the B18 allow even more power due to the added size and still remain a dependable motor? I plan on forging the internals and upping the fuel system so I know that shouldnt be a factor. But would the GSR respond as well or better than the B16? Thanks

There's no reason to choose the B16 over the B18.

With B18..you will not have the top end power as with the B16. Although with the B18....you get the advantage of displacement. You will get more torque and power overall.
You will lack the advantage of having a vtec motor. More tuning options, etc.
Better yet, do a LS-Vtec setup.
Best of both worlds.

Before you decide what you want to do, figure out your power goals, funds, and time. Also, I'd take the time to search because this topic has been covered a few times.

I will be the one to disagree with the majority. While a 1.8 will get you more torque and power, who really needs more than 300 WHP? B16's can make just as much HP as B18's, but they usually fall short in the TQ department. But remember, Honda's are FWD cars, so what's the point in having more than 200 ft/lbs of torque? Lots of torque = no traction. N/A Honda's have enough trouble hooking up with 160 ft/lbs. My advice to you would be to build a B16 w/forged internals, simple valvetrain to rev to 9k, and a nice laggy turbo to take advantage of our high revving motors.

Good luck with the project.

b16s are cheaper, id go with a b18 just cuz i got one. im trying to build a 600-700hp car. what are your hp goals? either or is just fine, just depends on what u like and your style... either one u build up will produce significant power to put a smile on your face.
