Default Turbo b16

right now i have a 00 si with a cai and a header. i am looking to turbo and get some power. but some people say you dont have to rebuild the internals, and some say you should? but im looking to spend around 3 to 4k. So whats the best idea for me to do?

a stock b16 with good compression (within 5% i would feel safe with) can handle 250whp well, i personally wouldnt go more than that, but if its a dd'er thats how i feel.

what you need to do at this moment in time is RESEARCH.
before you buy anything you better know every single part your going to need to buy, and what it does. and make sure the parts your buying are quality, with 3-4k you can really have a nicely equipped turbo setup.

hondas are grown up legos, you can build them any friggin way you want, your going to have to choose between top end or midrange power, and which turbos / manifolds etc. etc. etc. are going to help you get what you want.

good luck

The way you will come out of this the happiest is to research everything involved in turbo charging a car. Understand how each part works and its purpose. With 3k to 4k I would recommend piecing together a kit, and building the bottom end (rods & pistons). What is your hp goal? Don't forget the most important part is the tune so start looking for a good tuner now.

If this is your first Honda setup, just build a simple kit and worry about building the bottom end in the future. You can make pretty good power on the stock block. Have fun with ~300whp for a while before you decide to tear into the engine.
