Tuning issues on JRSC GSR

Tuning issues on JRSC GSR
I purchased a jrsc with a 8 psi pulley for my stock internaled b18c(jdm). I live in Northern Michigan near Traverse City. After I do the install this winter I will need to get this baby tuned.
I need to know if the fmu will suffice for 8 psi or if I should step up to a stand-alone managament system.
If I do get stand-alone I will purchase hondata s200 w/boost.
If thier is no one in northern michigan that can tune my car with hondata I would like to try and do it myself. I realize I will have to purchase a chip burner, and wideband o2.
I have an associates degree from ITT Tech and no my way around computers pretty good if that helps.
I also use to program the ole' football cards from direct tv if that helps
Do you think I can tune this realiably by myself using hondata?
Do you think I should just use fmu?
Do you think I should trailer my car to the closest tuner?
I've got a supercharger and no way to tune it. Help!
Thanks

Re: Tuning issues on JRSC GSR (98civic94gsr)
I highly recommend gettting a stand alone engine management system like the Hondata S200b ( which I currently own). As for tuning, I'm pretty sure someone in Michigan knows how to tune a Hondata on a dyno along with some street tuning. I drove 3 hours 1 way just to get my Hondata tuned for my setup on my JRSC'd GSR motor.
Good luck on your build up and install

Re: Tuning issues on JRSC GSR (Blue-Civic-Hybrid)
I personally wouldnt boost on 8psi without being tuned. the FMU will work, especially if it is just temperary, but Hondata is the best route from what i have been told.

Well it looks like I'll start look for hondata s200 b.
Anybody no any hondata Tuners in the state of Michigan. I've heard of a few in the Detroit area but thats like a 6 hour drive one way for me.
I would just assume tune the damn thing myself, with a lot of help from you guys of course.
Thanks,

Re: Tuning issues on JRSC GSR (nholmes)
So anybody know of any tuners in Michigan?
Will the fuel injectors I have now work at 8 psi or should I upgrade to something bigger, if so what size?
Also should I get an aftermarket fuel pump?
Thanks

Tuning is very sensitive. I don't care what management is "cheaper", but there's nothing more expensive than trial and error in something that you're not familiar with in terms of ignition and timing maps, and risk destroying the whole motor just to save a few bucks or not want to go through the work of getting it done reliably. Call me old-fashioned, I never understood that. There are several places in Michigan, one of them is The Tuning Factory (merger of Autowerks/Godspeed) in Farmington hills. 248.477.0700. But to sit there and try to learn by just going online and "guestimating" is really IMHO just asking for some issues and hassle to come up. Run the FMU until you're ready, then on your appointment, install the Hondata S200 (or get it from them) and have the professionals tune from there. Why take the unneeded risk?
