I plan on turboing my d16a6 motor and I was talking to a good friend of mine today who has been running a automotive shop for quite sometime they deal with rebuilds/repairs and machining. He mentioned that the d16a6 is a high compression motor and by running a junkyard setup most turbos are made for low compression engines and that a turbo would need a consistent supply of oil and it wont simply pull the oil it needs like a vacume through the oil feed line, he thinks I'll blow it up. I only plan to run 5-6psi and I'm gonna ghettodyne to compensate for fuel but he got me a little nervous. My motor has 150,000miles but still pulls like a champ.

The d16a6 only has a 9.1:1 compression ratio... So its really not even that high... You also won't have a problem getting sufficient oil with a "T" in the back of the block.

yeah hes got the good stuff, the turbo will get plenty of oil just add an extra 1/2 quart to compensate for the lines and the motor wont blow up if its tuned well and drive conservativley

Ok so run a T off the back of the block so the oil is diverted both ways and just run a bit more oil and she should be all good. I think I'm gonna go ahead with it anyway. I'm gonna run a little wee turbo with low boost unless it spikes......thats another thing what the usual cause of boost spike? I wanna make this as safe as possible. I'm running it a bit rich so I dont get any detenation as well. As far as the oil feed line is do I run a direct route to the oil pan and another direct route to the T behind the block is that how it runs?

You don't really need to run much more oil. Just fill it up in between the 2 marks close to the top on the oil dip stick just as you would if you were NA. The lines and the turbo really don't hold much oil inside them.

For the feed line you wanna "T" it into it to a oil source on the back of block. The return line goes to the pan.
