is it trash? (pics)
A buddy of mine gave me a Drag exhaust manifold and it has a crack from one of the ports going to where the turbo attaches. The crack goes all the way through but is very thin. I know the pics are shitty, but i was wondering if it is ruined? or will i just have an exhaust leak?

help would be appreciated.

I fit was free I don't see the harm in having it rewelded properly....i mean it can't be worse than welding a SSAC mani right? just a hairline crack. if it was me i'd just weld it myself and run it till it fell apart
problem is there is a very specific way for welding that manifold, it is iron, and the proper welding procedure is not cheap. i paid 75$ for a roughly one inch crack in a runner on a revhard. you should expect to pay roughly 150-200 for a proper repair.
IMO drag manifolds aren't really that great, not enough worth saving anyway, if you have to pay to use it.

Hit it on the head, that does not like to be welded.

It may be worth noting that there doesnt appear to be any carbon deposites around the crack meaning it isnt leaking. Maybe it will hold, maybe not. I had a hairline crack in my old revhard mani that never leaked all summer but I got it replaced under warranty.

hes right. I have a revhard style cast iron manifold and i was told the exact same. IMO just do what he said:<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by THEDirtyDseriesWOOT »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">buy a drag STYLE mani on ebay 165 shipped works wonders..</TD></TR></TABLE>

cast iron is very difficult to weld, the problem is that it have to be weld with exactly the same material (compund). that crack occurs from rapid changes of temperatures, it often occurs when you wash your engine when the exhaust is very hot.
I dont know how much would charge you a welder in the US but if its cheap go for it.

nah j/k but seriously i'd just buy a new manifold... maybe something with a warranty? you don't have to spend 1200 bucks on a peak boost ramhorn manifold to have it last for a long time....

Zip ties, clearly the right answer is Duct tape.
Honestly, i'd have it welded, i've had my dad just mig weld things like that before without issues. I know everyone says you have to do it this way blah blah blah. Just prep it good and see what happens
If you do weld it up, aren't you suppose to drill out at the end to keep it from spreading.
You can always just give it to me, and i'll weld it up and use it

if u use the standard blow cast welding, it doesnt penetrate good at all, so if u reweld it that way, (i dont kno of a better way), its shure to crack again and again.
