How bad would if affect me if I bought a 95 LS longblock and use my Y8 sohc vtec tranny? Reason why, because I found one that is real close to my area, but he does not have a tranny. I wanted to buy a complete motor but had trouble finding one at the right price. I know, I will buy me another tranny down the line. But I want to know what yall think. Thanks in advance

well, me and my brother are doing it. I had sohc vtec Y8 with a greddy turbo kit on it and the piston ring gave up on me. So I decided to sell the turbo kit to buy a Drag turbo kit. Buy me a LS motor and go from there on. Yeah, I know it was probably a stupid question. But I have to find out some way since I am new to this stuff.

Just curious, when you piston ring went out, how much boost were you running on that thing, and for how long? (miles) I kinda like to get a sense of the limits, since Im planning my own turbo d16 project.

 

well, at that time. With all the info I gather from honda-tech. I was running the AFC HACK. boosting 10lbs and it lasted about 5 months. Reason why, prolly cuz I drove it hard often and didn't have it tune right. Gotta have the right shitz and get it dyno tuned.
