Default Tranny question

What tranny is better for a t3/t4 turbo gsr? I do not go to the track, just mainly a street car. Should i get a ITR LSD, or an LS tranny? I have little knowledge about tranny's. Thanks in advance.

Ls tranny has the longest gears of any B series tranny. You can find those on Integra LS, GS, and RS cars.

ITR USDM tranny and B16a2 USDM tranny are the same tranny, the only difference is that the ITR comes with LSD, thats it. B16 tranny besides not having LSD both wheels spin, they are good trannys.

Gs-R is in between the Ls long gear and ITR or civic si short gear.

USDM ITR B18C5 USDM B16A2
1 2 3 4 5 R FD

3.230 2.105 1.458 1.107 0.848 3.000 4.400

Gs-R USDM B18C1
3.230 1.900 1.360 1.034 0.787 3.000 4.400

LS B18A B18B
3.166 1.857 1.259 0.935 0.742 3.000 4.400

I have a B16 turbo with Ls trans and its lovely. I personally like the long gears. I had both B16a2 and I can tell the difference.

So for a boosted car an LS would allow me to stay in gear longer, the ITR would run through the gears faster. I want to have the LSD, how strong are the LS trannies with an LSD? And thanks for the response.

Yes you'll stay in gear longer with an Ls, yes ITR will run thru gears faster.
Ls tranny with LSD will suit you just fine. Type in a search on HT for OBX and you'll see a lot of guys and girls buy Ls Trannys and put OBX LSD, thiers actually a DIY install of the OBX LSD

Another positive note is you save gas cuz the motor is spinning less RPM's because of the long gears.

Would the gearing really a drastic change from a gsr and ls. I have to get a new tranny because i sheared the rear mount off. i can get a cheap ls and if i dont like it swap the gears from my gsr in to it i guess. thanks for the replys

for a street car, the gsr trans will be much more favorable. especially on the highway. the b16/itr trans will be hitting 5500 rpms or more going 65.

Longer gears is just going to keep you in a specific gear longer, not allowing you ramp through your power band fast enough. People have the misconception that if you stay in a gear longer or hold a gear longer you can go faster. I personally think the GSR ratios are ideal for any application. LS gears are way to long in my opinion

Like I said, with Gs-r you get both worlds, more towards short gear though. Gs-r tranny is a favored tranny and thier good too. I personally like the Ls. I haven't had a Gs-r tranny so i can't tell you whats the difference but by looking at gear ratio numbers its in the middle. Everybody has thier preference. Mine, Ls.
