Default Traction bars how do they work?

I have been looking into boosting, and I have been doing a lot of reserch here. I love the Faqs tons of info. I own a 01 type r with about 78kmiles. I seached the faqs and ran through the serch function, which had about three pages on traction bars but no explanation of how and what it does. I suppose the name says it all, traction bar = better traction. Is traction a real big issue when it comes to turboing, even if you plan for a mild 5-8ish psi for a Daily Driver. Also, how is gas mileage affected.

On our front wheel drive cars traction is always an issue.I wouldnt be able to tell you how the traction on your car will be do to your setup is different from mine but i would expext it to have the same traction problems as any turbo honda.Gas mileage will be affected by the tune and what setup you will be using and your driving habits.Traction bars keep the wheels from pushing back and forth in order to keep wheel hop down. That was a very simplified explanation so dont kill me guys lol

it preloads the lower control arms. it almost eliminates wheel hop but you will still have wheel spin. get some slicks.

basically a traction bar does not let the lower control arm move back and foward, so it should get rid of wheel hob.

yes, traction is a huge problem in a turboed fwd honda. even if you turbo your stock itr you will make anywhere from 250-300whp easy. you know how your car is na now and in the pooring rain as soon as your car hits vtec the tires just spin and you go no where. well after your turboed that will happen in 1st and probably second gear on smooth dry pavement. i have 400whp and basically 1-3 grear are useless and just spin. thats also with a traction bar, stiff springs, and stickey tires.
