Default tps issues

so my tps wide open voltage always seems to be changing. lets say its at 4.4v pedal on the floor. ill go into the ecu(neptune) and set the parameters to 4.4v open, then ill go and datalog a pull and it will be at like 4.25v wide open. then ill go set it to 4.25v open and the same **** happens. its ballpark but its just not repeatably consistent. closed voltage is quite consistent for what its worth. sound like a bad sensor? would this make the motor more prone to slight detonation by any chance if its making pulls with the throttle plate itself open but the ecu only seeing like 88-92% throttle?

Do you have any corrosion causing a voltage drop? All the connections, clean, dry- dielectric greased? Just one thing I'd check diagnosing it. Check everything. Sensor shouldn't do that, but it could also have to do with the plate play or throttle cable too? Maybe reading the actual voltage but mechanical linkages changes positions.

Is it an oem sensor?
I have very low confidence in the one I have from Advance Auto Parts.
Seems to always need adjusting.
Is there a high quality replacement available reasonably priced?

Got mine off ebay from DIY tunning he claims that they are good quality, sorry I have no results yet as it has not been installed.

Omni Power Honda & Acura B Series Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) TPS-OM-B

Omni Power TPS, that's the direction I've gone in the past, didn't have issues with it.

Make sure the carpet isn't interfering with the gas pedal preventing it from being depressed completely.

Yeaah this is what im thinking...also make sure the cable is working/adjusted properly, Could also be a problem with the throttle plate sticking

Theres really not much to the tps its self as long as its mounted properly

I'm not sure how OBD1 Honda TPS work, but the only issues with TPS sensors in general is the variable resistor style. I have seen them develop dead spots where the brush touches the contact often (like low throttle positions for most daily drivers). Usually no issues at WOT.

Yeah the bitch is they are usually installed "permanent". Blox and others make replacements that come with allen screws thank god. But you have to cut / dremel a slot into the existing screws to get them out

ive replaced tps sensors in the past you are right they are kind of "riveted" in and its a bit of a pain to drill out the head of the rivet so it can come off. usually some vice grips will get the rest of the old bolt out

i looked the car over the other day, adjusted the throttle cable and angle on the bracket a bit and such. next week when it warms up ill take it for a ride and do some datalogging see where it stands at the moment
