Total timing. What is everyone running?
I did a search and found a little bit of info. But not a whole lot. Most of what I found was not on a B16A (which Im running). Im wonderng what everyone is runing for there total timing. Currently Im running ~18 to 19 deg on .5bar. From what Ive read so far I think I can add probably another 2 or 3 degrees safely. Can you all please list your basic setup and total timing? And your Compresion ratio would be really helpfull. Thanks for anyone that responds.
My basic setup is t3/t4 on a stock B16A running .5bar.

fully built b20/vtec 9:1 compression 15psi 93 octane 14.5-degrees and 11:1 a/f ratio...tuned with aem ems
i like to keep things safe
oh and my previous motor(same setup) melted a piston with 11.3:1 a/f ratio 17 degrees of timing, 19-20psi, and 93 octane(supposedly). just goes to show u that even bullet proof motors can blow too

id rather have slightly higher egts than nasty detonation...trust me i know from experience... a few degrees retarded up top is not gonna hurt anything. now maybe if i had it at like 10degrees, than yes i would agree with you

i sure hope your base timing is retarded, cuz 27 is way too much, that motor wont last long w/ 27 degrees of total timing on that high of compression and boost levels

Found that out after cracking all ringlands. The motor is being rebuilt with CP 9:1 pistons, Eagle rods, blockguard, and some quality machine work. Then I am getting it tuned by Ed at Balanced Performance.

It's my car and it's using uberdata, at 10 psi...and it outpulls his talon from a roll, he's not happy.

I ran 22deg. @ 12psi w/ 11.5:1 a/f on stock LS motor, planned to try some advance on the dyno but never got around too it.

I think this works for OBDI ECU's. Not sure though. Check it out.
Bump.

Well I added about 2 to 3 degrees. And WOW!!! Night and day diffrence. Im so glad to have the power back that I lost when I went from the Hack to Uberdata. My tune was just too damn conservative I guess. Im currently sitting at about 20.5 total timing now at .5bar. I wonder if I can add even more timing.
Im still curious as to what everyone else is running for their total timing though.

Might want to find a way to lower your intake temps more first though.
I would also look at a lower temp thermo, also.
Good luck, and happy tuning.

lol...How did you now my filter is right behind my radiator currently? Ive ordered the piping already though to redo my IC and intake piping. Just waiting for it to come in the mail and have some time off from work.

It's actually very common for people to try higher timing with realizing that you need to drop your intake temps as much as possible to help prevent detonation. Tapping a little hole in your thermo helps a bit too.
