Total Seal rings...
Are these the best for turbo B16 motors? Im throwing a set of JE 9 to 1 CR pistons in a stock bore b16 and dont plan on running over 15 psi for now. Someone told me they used stock Honda rings but that seems a little ridiculous since we just blew the stockers with ease.

From what I've heard of people usuing them or that have had expereince with them, Total Seal = Total Crap.. but again, this is just what I've "heard"...
On turbo motors especiallly, Total Seal rings=total ****. There is way too much blowby and the compression isn't very good at all. This was found out prior to getting my engine built. I was using JE 9:1 with total seals and losing almost 30 psi per cylinder after breaking the pistons in. I got rid of that setup and got my ZC built at endyn. They are using an un-named ring manufacturer from Japan now, that seals quite nicely. I would suggest emailing them. Reason why I say un-named is because the rings come in a box that is straight plain and white with a little bit of japanese on it. I will admit though, Total Seals candy is pretty good but not worth the $150 for the shitty rings. I think total seal is pretty good for american cars. I'm just talking from experience with my Honda.
Yah i think we are going to go with the ones Endyn uses. Im ordering some parts from them and the rings are going to be part of the deal. I just got off the phone with them and everything looks good.
Thanks for the advice!

you mean the wiseco rings are pretty good stuff. I use them with great success. THe total seal is = total *** thats the worst rings i have seen.
I agree. JE rings are nice. I run hastings piston rings in my built turbo h23a. I have had zero problems with them and they have seen 16psi and no problems yet. JE told me that Hastings and JE are the same exact rings. The company just boxes them differently and stamps their name on them. i dont have much experience with total seal.

total seal rings are the best i have used i am trying out ther top gapless rings in a few weeks.
what rings do you guys recommend besides the JE rings?
Same here, Had the total seal rings for almost a year and perfect compression. No smoke anywhere detected. Drive on the street daily, race at the track during the season. But then again, maybe i'm lucky with rings or else everyone has been installing them wrong.
Whats wrong with stock Honda rings. My mom has 290K on her honda and still burns no oil. Thats gotta say somthing about the OEM rings
thats alot of miles... but the car is stock man!

are they file fit? maybe they were not filed correctly....
I've never used them, but if they were crap, they wouldn't have been outcasted from the import scene already....

total seal=total ****! could not get them to seat. it put more oil out the tailpipe than the exxon valdeze spilled in the ocean. of course when i called them it was all my fault (i've rebuilt dozens of honda engines though). they said it was improper honing. i rehoned the block which made it worse. called arias and ordered a set of rings and guess what, problem solved. if you use there rings and it smokes just remember
(WE ON HONDA-TECH TOLD YOU SO!)

I know jack shiz about cars, but I do know totals seals suck. My friend had his motor built with them and was adding oil like a ****. He switched to Hastings and has been fine ever since. Total seal is total shiz and Im out on that note.
I put total seal rings in my GSR engine after a getto hone job- no oil burning at all. they were a real bitch to install though, I can see how someone could easily mess them up... the instructions spec different locations for the oil ring gap vs stock rings b/c of the location of the "gapless" ring sits. If you don't get it right, it leaks.
