Default Tires for boost - STREET??

Curious to know what guys are running in the 350-450whp range. the thread on this in the drag racing section went totally awry and turned in to a pissing contest on street vs. strip.

I'm currently looking at the R1R's or 615's since they come in a favorable sizes for me. I'm looking to run 16 x 8 +38 in the front and 16 x 7 +35 in the rear on a 1993 civic coupe. Trying to utilize the size 215/45/16 which aren't readily available in most competition tires.

i have falken siex tires all season 195/50/15. i get 2.0 60 foots and 8.1 eigth mile at 94.5 miles an hour and my tires last over a year of beating the crap out of them and cost 55 a piece and with weekly track days. those 615's and r1r last prob like a month or 2 and cost almost 3 times the ammount of my all season tire.if your smart then you will realise that drag radials are never worth it and plus i always beat people at the street races and they have nittos and cheater slicks. your 2 best friends is a baby 2step for first gear and boost by gear becuase no DOT street legal tire will ever, EVER, hook 350 to 400whp in a fwd car in first gear especialy at night when the street races happen. ask anyone who truly races their honda on the street and strip weekly and not a hard parker and they will agree with me that no street tire will ever simulate the same grip that real m&h or hoosier slicks do.

still doubt wat im telling you, heres some proof

this is me against a dude with nitto r1r 225 tire width and i only had my falken siex and the dude with thte nittos did 2 burnouts and i didnt do a single one. i just do that to show that cheater slicks and drag radials are waste of money for a fwd car or at least compared to just going full slicks

heres at strip(legal lol) and the charger redlighted that bitch and i smoked him still

NT01, R888, Star specs will all do good. Just store them properly in the cold and dont do burnouts on them...

aren't those 615's in your avatar??

I'm running a boost by gear setup, I feel it's worthy to note that I won't be spinning the hell out of 1st and 2nd anyway.

Let me also add that I'm 30yrs old, not a punk kid looking to race everything he see's in the street. I don't exactly street race either. The extent of my go fast enjoyment is 3rd, 4th gear pulls to about 100mph every now and then on the highway when my boys and I are out cruising late summer nights. I have plans on seeing the track once or twice to see what times I can lay down. Also I'm looking for something with a good handling characteristic as well. I don't NEED something that's going to "dead hook" I just don't want overwhelming wheel spin and a car that's sitting still.

dude your car seems like it's hooking up pretty damn well, may I ask what wheel sizes and offsets you run to fit those 225/45's??

what power levels are you at that you are promoting a 195 falken?? also, that tire will certainly not handle as well as any of the tires mentioned thus far.

dont trip im not a punk *** kid racing everything i see. i have had turbo integra for 4 years with sero speeding tickets and never get hood popped. everyone that knows me can tell you im probababky the most resposnible dude on the road. when u own a small car with very little protection, driving like an idiot is not an option. im not looking to get a darwin award.
and
you should tell that to all the guys at the race track then cus for the most part im the youngest there and rest are old *** dudes way past 30. and yes those are my circuit tires, and not meant for drag racing the way they were intented, but for glendora mountain canyons and adams motorsport park(kinda crapy). so dude dont try to flame on me cus i was literally just helping you and trying to save you money most importantly

200-lil over 400whp depenging on my boost by gear
and read carefully. im not promoting my siex tires but rather trying to convince you to think it over twice. you should have good long lasting tires for street use and racing tires when you want to race. not only is it more responsible to be this way but it will discipline you to keep from being a typical jackass in thier civic going 100mph in public streets. and bro let me once again remind you that i bet i can outhandle someone with their 615s ir nittos in my all seasons. when it comes to handling 80 percent of it is all the driver and skill, then maybe tires, and last power output. how do you think 80whp crx and civics or miata beat way stronger cars, ill tell you, its skill not the car. anything over 280 is completly pointless when it comes to handling in a fwd honda. i dont think you can safely or confidentyl handle through windy roads or canyons with over 280 without understeering like a bitch

lol everything about this car reminds me about mine especialy when i had those rims. same engine, setup almost looks the same, same car, and i think my ride height is just like yours with the hood propped from back lol. where you from west coast or east coast, if your on west coast we should run at the strip or street from a dig to truly see who has the faster ls hahah. my reaction time is pretty wicked. i average a .01 to .1 r/t, and rarely get .2 r/t, never misshift and i kno how to drive unlike most people in turbo hondas lol, im sure you know that already.and im gonna get some 24.5slicks pretty soon too

i wasn't at all flaming you dude, i was merely stating my intentions and intended purpose for the vehicle. i can see how what could have been taken the wrong way and for that I extend my apologies.

are you running the same size tire in the rear as well??

the car looks good, and that size seems like it's right on the money, but I worry about a 225. I know it's really a give and take situation, with ride height and a nice sized tire. my issue is that I like to get nicely on my tires. attached is how i currently ride.

this is a 205/45/16 on 16 x 7.5 +35

Neither coast.

My drive train has been less then ideal this past year so I'm putting the focus into that this winter. Maybe I'll invest in some slicks this summer and go for good times, but I enjoy it on the street.

My other car is going to be the track vehicle.

You would for sure have to raise it up a bit and possible space the wheels out for the same size. Im running a 205/45/16 Neogen in the back (which I might add is also a very good all season tire, and hooked to about 450whp in 3rd for me)

I might end up scrapping the whole idea of the wheel sizes and offsets I want to run and just get sizes that I KNOW will work with a tire such as the R888 or RA-1. I can always just garage the set I own now if I feel like I need to be in stunner mode.

deep down I know I'm asking for too much from the best of both worlds, a good gripping wheel and tire setup that I can squeeze in my fender.

The NT01 is a cheaper alternative that is manufactured with the same compound (which I have read and heard from various sources).

the 16 x 8 + 35 was a pipe dream even in the 215/45 615. think i'm going with 16 x 7 +35 all around with the best 215 or 205's I can make work

I've run nt01s on a few cars and I absolutely love them... but in the end Michelin pilot sport cups are the ultimate sticky street tire. We have a set on our 600whp c6 z06 that's a street/road race car and we can't say enough positive things about them
