Re: Tips for driving on slicks (Turbo00)
what size slicks?? That makes a difference. I am using M/T 22/8/15. With that being said, I don't have too much side wall. Therefore to get optimal 60' I cannot just side step the clutch like you can with wrinklewalls cuz you will still spin (although not as much as regular street tires) I launch at 5500 rpm and I just BARELY feather and then let go of the clutch. I have had great results hitting 1.74 60' Keep in mind though.. that feathering off on slicks could be detramental to your clutch although I have yet to have anyproblems. Also, After about 50 passes, I have yet to break an axle (knocking on wood) doing the above. I also use 12 psi in each tire. Furthermore, I don't know if this applies to you, but I have a Quiafe so I don't know what people with open difs are doing differently.

Re: Tips for driving on slicks (Turbo00)
if they are brand new slicks, they won't hook for crap on the first couple of launches. You can wear them in quicker by doing a long sustained burnout, then letting them cool completely before your next pass. By about the 6th run, they will hook as they should. I'd start with 15psi, and work your way down after you cycle the slicks in (if they are brand new). Try launching about 1500-2500rpm higher than you normally launch on street tires. Fine tune everything from there. This is just a rough guide.
