Tial Blow Off Valve Adjustability
Just installed my Tial blow off valve and am not happy that it makes a fluttering sound instead of a whoosh to let out air. I have read that the fluttering sound is bad. I need to know if there is any way to adjust the Tial like the Greddy and other valves I have used. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it tee'd into a vacumm sorce if so I would try running direct from a good vacuum source on the manifold, I have seen first hand blow offs not working properly because they were tied into to many vacuum lines and could get enough vacuum. My tial dosnt make any fluttering at all no matter what boost setting

Re: Tial Blow Off Valve Adjustability (30psi Teg)
I have the Edelbrock kit on my Civic that came with a Tial bov. It flutters when shifting at lower rpms. At high rpms it doesn't flutter. I think if it were really a bad thing, that Edelbrock wouldn't be selling their kits that way. I've ridden in one of Edelbrock's test Civics with the same kit and it flutters the same way. I wouldn't worry about it.

Try and Tee it off of your brake booster line before the check valve. Mine has 0 fluttering at only 6psi. And from what I see on mine, I don't think you can adjust it.

All the Tial BOVs I have used had to "break in" so to speak. The piston was always alittle sticky at first. Once it gets some use it operates much better. I would not be worried.
I sometimes get a small amount of flutter at no or low boost openings. No big deal.

I had to break it loose using a vaccum pump. Try putting some WD40 or such on it.

Does anyone have a link for a download of sound or video to hear that fluttering sound. I'm curious as to what you guys are talking about.

Tial BOV's have to break in slightly, but also how much boost are you running through it? They are really designed to hold over 20+psi of boost, and they really don't open that well if you are running anything under 20. They do work GREAT, but you need to have a setup that will make full use of the blowoff valve.
It may have been better to go with a TurboXS Type H instead : \
That fluttering sound sounds like a turkey gobble Basically the boost is what helps open the blowoff valve when the car hits vacuum. Running weak boost numbers (under 14psi or so) will just cause the plunger to bounce open and closed, which causes the flutter sound, as well as some of that boost is surging back to the compressor on the turbo.

Umm, no. The valve does not bounce open and closed. The valve is not opening at all or it is opening only partially. This causes compressor surge, which is what makes the fluttering sound. Take the vacuum line off the BOV and it will sound the same. Because it does not open.

Re: Tial Blow Off Valve Adjustability
Dayum, from what I reading here, the general consensus is that Tial BOV sucks. I'm getting ready to purchase mine. I wanted it to match the 38mm WG. Will only run 10 psi tho. Any other comments on this? My mind was already set for the Tial BOV...... I'm confused now.....

Just get it with the softer spring like Kamikazi said. The Tial BOV is still the best BOV on the market. The valve is large enough to have no chance of compressor surge, long as you get a soft enough spring. Since the Tial uses such a large valve, the springs are stiffer than most BOVs...

Re: Tial Blow Off Valve Adjustability (thermalfi'd16)
The TiAL blowoff valve doesn't "suck". It's one of the best blowoff valves on the market. Full Race uses them in their kit, quite a few tuners use them on their personal cars and I will be using a TiAL blowoff valve. What has TiAL made that was cheap in quality? Nothing. Also, where did you read the TiAL was designed for 20lbs plus of boost? 20lbs from a T28 or 20lbs from a GT35R?

The BOV spring doesn't care about airflow volume, the pressure underneath it is what causes it to open. So 20 psi from ANY turbo. Yes, the stiff spring Tial doesn't like to open completely unless you're running pretty high boost, I don't know about 20 psi though
