Default thumbs up to the SMC+

finally got the car running last night (ended up being a grounding issue) and took it for a spin.

The car idles just like stock, and vacuum to boost transitions are seamless. The car seems like a factory boosted car and pulls VERY hard. The funny part is, the car drives a LOT better than it did with the PMS.

for the SMC+

I like to hear good things about the SMC. Lately I've been wondering if I should sell mine and just go with an AFC hack until I build my block and get Hondata. Hopefully we continue to hear good things.

can you give the specs of your turbo and how the car runs in the rpms you have tuned for more fuel(boosting), but when you are not boosting. how long did it take you to tune it well?

yes many more details would be appreciated. how is partial throttle, etc? do you have a WB sensor that you're tuning with? i think we'd all love to hear more info on your setup and how its working out. any problems you ran into along the way?

thanks for sharing

I was kind of at an advantage since I had a PMS in my car before. I was running RC 550cc injectors with the PMS, so I just took the set-up chart that I had made for the PMS and multiplied everything by 0.8 (440/550 = 0.8) to get the rough values for the DSM 440cc injectors.

The AVC-R still needs to be dialed in, because it's letting the boost spike and making me lean out up top. I plan to resolve all those issues tonight.

To answer some of your questions, the turbo is a T3/TO4E (i'll have to double check for the exact specs), custom turbo kit/fuel system. Part throttle is extremely smooth, like I said, it feels like a factory boosted car. There was no problems with the install or adjustments, I even got rid of the missing link.

I will post up all my settings when I get off of work.

No trouble here with my PMS. Perhaps you had a tuning issue?

For every 1 problem a user may have with a SMC, there are over 25 successful installs! Problems may be usually caused by poor installs and/or not following the installation/operating instructions verbatim.

As for the hesitation problem found on the VAFC hack we will be releasing a device to resolve this called the DBS. Stay tuned.

So Zip, does the new device you are creating solve the same hesitatoin issue with the smc+? I am really having a hard time figuring out what is going on with mine. The smc+ does create the same issue correct? If not what makes it differ in the SMC+ that does not. I know you are the man to ask this stuff to?

... i too cant wait to see this... also, any word on an smc+ that also includes timing retard (similar to a btm)... i think that would be the perfect "budget ems"... if you ever came out with one, i would buy it in a heartbeat!!!

Actually, the only reason I'm getting it running good is so I can sell it. I'm eventually going to get a 350Z, not anytime soon though. How's your project coming along though? It sucks that GE screwed you like that. You should just go ahead and be the first one on the block with a DART block. I did see Wells' supra though, and it was BEAUTIFUL, inside and out. Good luck with your project man I'll give you a call.

By the way, for anyone that interested in the settings I put into the SMC+, don't hold me to the settings I posted above. I changed them last night, and it's not leaning out up top anymore. I'll post them up tomorrow. (they should only be used as a starting point anyway since every car is different).

Good choice on the 350Z, if I could afford one I think I'd buy one too. Well's Supra is TIIIIITE got the Volk GTC and Veilside front lip and Titanium Exhaust. Money bags $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Good luck on the sale!

For those individuals that requested even more adjustability, the SMC500 with 500 rpm increments will be released in a couple of days:
