Re: Thrust Washer failure (preludestud11)
Sure am, Exedy Stage 1 aftermarket. There is a lot of pressure too on the clutch. Similar to a Mustang GT if you have felt one before

there is something wrong in your clutch/pressure plate. a exedy stage 1 should not feel like a mustang clutch at all.......its actually a very light clutch. only slightly stiffer/heavier than stock.

check to make sure the release fork is not bent. change the pressure plate........also check/replace the slave cylinder.

Re: Thrust Washer failure (non-VTEC)
my fork is in good shape, sometimes pedal looses pressure and I have to pump it, but when I bleed the clutch it looks normal. Could my slave cylinder be causing this problem?

Re: Thrust Washer failure (thomas188)
Only time i have heard of thrust washers going out (the actually got eaten up) it was caused by a faulty clutch/flywheel combination. it wasnt spaced correctly and when the flyweel was tighend down it put alot of pressure on teh crank, transfereing the pressure the the thrust washers.

this sounds like it might be my problem, so should I get another clutch too or can I keep the exedy 1 because it grips like a motha... So the flywheel, pressure plate, and clutch aren't liking each other

Usually honda's don;t have problems like this, so something is not installed right, or something is broken that you don't know about.
this isn't a DSM forum.

Re: Thrust Washer failure (thomas188)
just got off the phone with Exedy/Daiken and the tech I talked to is going to have his boss get back with me because he is concerned about the setup. He said their stage 1 should not be holding up to the 260ish hp I'm making, actually said I should be blowing through their clutch, yet I have no slippage what so ever. He seems to think that the pressure plate might have a messed up diaphragm which is putting to much pressure on the flywheel and actually pulling the flywheel which is connected to crank which is probably eating my thrust washers up. I think that if their diaphragm is messed up I will be insisting on bottom end rebuild including crank cleaning and new bearings.

my exedy stage one held until I made almost 400whp for some crazy *** reason....then my motor blew up. I was talking to my roomate about that the other night. I wonder if my car had the same problem

Re: Thrust Washer failure (thomas188)
Make sure your not resting your foot on the clutch pedal. Some people have a habit of doing this.It keeps a load on the thrust bearings and can wipe them out.I'll also go along with the bent or loaded clutch fork.As far as the clutch diaphragm goes,I don't see how.The only load is between the flywheel and pressure plate. The pressure plate exerts no load on the crank until you push the clutch pedal.Unless you hold the pedal down for a minute or two between shifts you can't do any damage to the thrust washer.

Re: Thrust Washer failure (NJIN BUILDR)
I don't rest my foot on the pedal at all. My roomate is prone to do this and the time I let him drive my car I told him 3 times to get his foot off the pedal. Grr, this is agrivating
