Default thoughts of turbo

sometime in the near future i plan on getting a new car. because
i fell in love with my integra for the short period of time i had it
i'll most definately be buying honda (either crx or hb).

these cars dont make the kind of power i'm interested in having,
an engine swap will be neccesary. but here's where i'm reading
mixed messages.

so i started thinking about cylinder sizes. it seems to make sense
that if you have a large piston (say 2.0L) and turbo it, you will
make more power than a 1.6L engine under the same conditions.

another thing is rpms and rev limit.. high revving engines tend
to have a shorter life span that lower revving ones. also, from
reading other posts it seems that revving higher will cease to
make power at a certain point.
and the last thing to consider is vtec. it makes sense that it would
help a turbo engines performance, but people say LS is the way
to go. i think this is because the lower compression lets them use
the stock internals with higher boost, thus making it cheaper. that
is one thing i've noticed a lot on this board, that a lot of things
factor into what makes something 'good'.

anyhow.. your opinions on engine choices, ecu and vtec relating
to turbo would be greatly appreciated. also, since many people
ask what the ultimate goal of such and such project is.

the long term goal of this project will be a fully built engine for
turbo with very high boost on the weekends. i plan on running
the stock engine while i build the swapper from the bottom up.

last time i wrote a post this big i got to replies so i'm hoping
for more, and hopefully this can answer other peoples questions
also.
