Default thinking of sleeving my block

I plan on builing a motor not sure of what block to use.I plan on making atleast 300whp, but knowing me i always want more so i know for a fact i will be wanting 500 whp not to long from now. my last set up was lsv turbo.it was a stock rebuild with arp rod bolts and head studs. The sleeves gave up on me while i was on my way to go finish my dyno tune.It was pulled of the dyno because oil pressure drop'd and made 246whp with no vtec. So this time i'm planning to get a b20 block. Also do plan on getting forged pistons and rods. Not sure on what to good and any recommendations would be nice and a reason for why you like the set up.So the question is should i sleeve? or just get a block guard? also since i plan on making this much power should i get a bigger turbo and injectors ? my turbo is a turbonetics 57 /63ar, injectors are 750cc rc injectors

IMO, you should sleeve the block, but instead of going with the B20 block, you should pick up a LS block and send it out to Laskey Racing to get sleeved. I would go with a bigger turbo, you should get a Garrett GT30R, the spool would be great and you will love it, it can also reach your goal of 500hp, go with the .82 a/r. Also, sell the 750's and just pick up a set of ID 1000's and you should be good. What are you gonna use to tune with?

i would just tow it to the dyno tune this time...even on a half tune i would not drive it around boosting...do you think thats why your sleeves gave out...the ls sleeves can usally take alot if the tune is spot on

copper o ring placed down before you set the head allows for better sealing when used with higher boosted cars.

Does that include boring? I imagine it does.

I hope so, because you should not be paying more then $25 a cylinder for honing.

And no, do not hone it yourself.

My last bloc had Darton MID sleeves... Plus after getting first hand 1 on 1 time with the Darton guys @ SEMA last year, they are my only stop for sleeving.. I still have lots of love for Laskey Racing though.

there are a few brands out there that sleeve and sleeve well.

Darton

Laskey

Golden eagle

JG

Aebs

dart

and the list goes on.

I have used darton, and laskey sleeved blocks and never had an issue.

as for o rings its really up to u and when you talk to your machine shop and what they say. i dont think its a bad thing. its better sealant on your motor and its just that one more step of protection.

and the 225 for the hone sounds like thats there price for a bore deck and hone. which u will 100 percent need lol.

G.E raised their prices significantly since last year, they used to be the main choice because of their cheap costs, but now they cost just as much as any other sleeving company.

So its pretty much do your research and pick which company you think does the best job at sleeving, and go with them.

They all pretty much cost the same.
