Thinking about nitrious, direct port or dry?
Well lets get a bit of info about my car here.
88 Crx, Obd1 running a chipped P28 with a 'almost' stock ITR maps on the chip. Basic I/H/E etc. Engine is a Gsr block with ITR head. Everything in there is stock.
Well i want to get into the mid 13's. But i dont have the cash for a crazy engine build or a turbo charger so i was thinking about a 5-600 nitrious kit.
Now i want to go the safest way possible run im thinking a dry shot, so i will gain about 50-75 Hp when on the bottle.
I have heard that the wet systems are dangerous unless you go direct port because they can be very dangerous because they can puddle in the intake manifold and cause extreme lean/rich conditions. Now direct port is more for 75hp or more, right?
What is required for tuning direct port or dry, will a VAFC do the trick? I dont really want to get into hondata, cant afford it right now.
Is direct port just as safe as dry if set up properly?
I have been told that you cant run nitrious with chips that advance timing, well i know my timing is slightly advaced due to the chip. So do i just retard it by the distributor or do i need to find another chip? Like whats the deal with that.
Lastly who makes good nitrious kits for dry or direct port?
I wont be using it alot, never on the street, just at the track maybe once a month maximum.
Alright id like to hear from those who have ran nitrious or people who know about it. I dont really want to hear how stupid it is etc.
Thanks!
Links to reading articles would be good as well.
