Well it is official. The exhaust is on and is literally half as loud as my tanabe racing medallion. Went from a 2.5" high flow cat to a 3" also. Nice deep tone but not loud at all! Turbo spools at much lower rpm's also! On the highway it used to drone and my ears would ring by the time i got anywhere. Thermal is so quiet I love it! My only concern is that it will burn out and become loud. It is brand new.




Hehhehehe I just had to post it! Sorry. It is SO nice. Thermal quality is definately top notch. Getting installed tomorrow and off to the dyno Saturday!

I've got one of them dilly's on my car; they're nice but loud. Did you get it with the silenced muffler or standard?

 

Nice exhaust system...... Too bad you paid over $500 for yours..while I paid $150 for mine ( 3" Dynomax round muffler w/ 3" custom-bent piping ).

Real men run 15" of 3" downpipe and nothing more. If you must buy an exhaust, a Thermal R&D is made - quite unlike yours - with the highest quality stainless and a warranty. My friend Dave polished the 2 y/old one on his gf's car last weekend and all the soot and dirt and roadshit came right off without any real effort, and the exhaust is still flawless and without blemish.

yeah they are nice but really loud I want to put a resonator on mine but I hate to cut into such a fine piece

This is an assumption!!

Theres two local shops near me that call them custom exhaust installs, and both places mandrel bend!

Thanks for all the comments guys! I know I didnt need to make a post about it but I was so excited and had to share in the thrills As far as the custom exhaust goes it can be non-crush bent. My friend had a 2.5" made with elbow pieces and straight pipe then the shop just welded everthing up. I could have gone that route but I had an extra $500 burning a whole in my pocket. Lol yeah.....

Yeah-- i had it on my teggy. Its a great sounding exhaust-- but its just too loud in the cabin for my tastes.

 

Everyone keeps telling me how loud it is. I cant see how it will be any louder than my tanabe racing medallion. I will still have a 3" high flow cat.

 

I'm pretty sure it's quieter than the Tanabe. There was a post on here with sound clips of the exhaust. Not sure if it was in the FI fourm though.

 

I'm pretty sure your going to have cut that exhaust to fit that cat on there

very nice man....3 inch is the only way to go....even though i will be doing a 2.5 inch exhaust because i think a 3 inch is overkill for the greddy 18g

 

anyway some people dont have the time to get their exhaust made by a shop ... buy the right one the first time is priceless IMO ... Mine have been made by hand and it is not the quality of Thermal...

hey same **** here did you do all aluminized and U-bends? talk about loud as hell though.

 

well i have custom 3 inch mandrel bent piping and a hks carbon/titanium exhaust...love it to death...i never really like thermals products but hey to each there own

My thermal is 5 times louder than my Tanabe ever was. Exact same motor and everything. Both are catless setups too!!!
