The only thing I remembered about when I boosted my Si was I wasn't expecting the power gain to be that great. I spoke to my tech on the phone before heading out to his shop to pick up the car. And when I spoke with him he advised me that he would keep the boost at stock for now until the kit breaks in. I asked him about how many psi am I seeing? He said about 5-6. Now when I arrived to pick the car up my brother and friend were more impressed by the looks of all the piping. Ross (my tech) took me for a test drive around the block and let me tell you. 5-6 psi on stock compression was scary at first. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd broke loose as he pulled out of the driveway. I was so scared cause I never felt that kind of power out of a civic before. My brother was watching as we pulled off and he hit me on my nextel and he said "Yo the car sounds sick" I was very happy! I didn't even drive it home I let him drive it from Staten Island to the house. And since then I have re-built my engine and it's still a very impressive setup.

my mechanic and i fabricated a kit for my sohc about 3 years ago. I had just finnished a class with my (then) wife and she dropped me off to pick up my car. My mechanic finnished the piping while i was in class. I hopped in and started to drive home, the first time with the turbo. The road was open (10:00 or so at night) so i decided to see how the turbo helped. So i floor it...boost starts to rise and i let off, nice little (minimal) improvement. I was happy because it was more power then all the other mods i had ever added. The problem was the check engine light was now on ...reset the ecu....boosted again...same thing....
well the next day i fixed that problem with some check valves...then it was on to the cause of only gaining 5hp (using my *** dyno to figure that out) with 5psi.....viola cat was toast, changed that out and gained about 40hp (once again using my *** dyno and g-tec to verify ).....I put down 139whp on 5.5psi...sohc d15.....that little engine pulled like it should have from the factory ...

My first turbo experience was at about 3 in the morning. Me and my buddy had just bolted the turbo/manifold to the block, and mocked up some piping.
I didnt have any front end on my car, but we had to try it.
My brakes were completely smoked in ten minutes of driving, thats all i can say.

No my car is not on the site yet. I kind off waiting till I put my carbon fiber hood and my gun metel wheels on first. But I have the 00' Greddy Turbo Si. I don't know if you ever saw it when it was there. I haven't been out that way in a while I work Mon-Fri and Sat at Napa so it's hard for me to go out there. But I might go out there soon cause I need him to install and street tune my SMC+ i would do it myself but I think I have retard the timing 10 degrees and I don't have the proper equipment to do it at home. Trust me if I did I would! That and I don't really trust to many other people working on the car other than him.

My first turbo was the greddy kit on a sohc. I couldn't get the cat to line up to the downpipe correctly so I just left it off. Took a test run around the block and it felt like heaven. I just prayed I installed everything correctly and hoped nothing would blow up. Gave it some gas and whooooosh, got pushed back into my seat and the front end picked up a little bit, and that little sohc just took off. *sigh* those were good times.

I hooked up my Turbo myself, took 3 days. First run around the block was scary, 5 seconds after I boosted 5psi my car started over heating so I had to shut it off and I sat on the side of the road for 10 minutes while it cooled. On the way back to the house I gave it a little boost again and there goes the damn temp guage again! grrr! God back to the house, pop the radiator cap and bleed the bubbles out of the block. Once that was done I hit the road again, this time I gave it a little boost but no over heating, woot woot! So I went for a little cruise, it was about midnight, full moon was out, sun roof open and the streets were all mine. I had my stereo off so I could indulge myself in the sweet sounds of turbo spool and blow off, it gave me a boner. Every time I would mash the gas I couldnt help but yell "HOLY ****!" at the top of my lungs! "Is this really my car? I can't believe it!" I was all smiles from ear to ear the whole night. Once got home I sat on my couch with the door to the garage open and I just sat there and smiled at my car for at least an hour...

hahahha my first boost experience. me and my friend were seeing everything blurry from welding in a enclosed garage for about 3 hours so every light we saw would glare like crazy but omg. First time out in front of my friends house i never felt my car pull so hard pumped me up hardcore. First feeling i was like... GODDAMNIT I WANT MORE. ran it with no front bumper forever because the front wouldnt fit. So ****.

Second boost experience... i decide to get rid of the ghetto rigged pipe that we created for the fmic space (didnt have one at the time) and i hooked up a steel pipe. Lets just say the second boost experience topped the first when i hit it and lost traction in first gear.... not to mention running open downpipe for the first couple of weeks... running open downpipe for the first could weeks of having a turbo should be a tradition...

and yes... after i got home i stared at my car with my welding gas poisoned eyes for about an hour. the next day i was stuck in bed with my eyes closed because i fcouldnt open them theyd hurt and hwen i had them closed theyd hurt... take this as a tip: dont MIG weld in an enclosed space with no mask

My first boost experince in my car was very scarry! Me and a few friends had just finnished bolting on the dragg kit and all the fuel upgrades and the boost controller.(greddy tvvc) I decided to leave the boost controller turned all the way down and take it for a ride down the street. My street is a bout an 1/8th mile long before you get to a pretty busy highway where there is a stop sign. so i go to the end of the coldesac(sp) and start from a slow roll in first and punch it. WOW!! the tires instantly break loose in first! I switch to second and the tires break loose all the way down the steet. i tack out second really quick and look down at the speedo. HOLY ****!! im doing like 70mph! i slam on the brakes and skid through the stop sign and to the other side of the highway!!(thank god there was no traffic coming) i look in the rear view and see nothing but tire smoke behind me. I hit the return on my boost gauge and the boost had gone to 1.5 bar!! When i got back to my house, my friends said it was like a rummbling blue streak going down my street. we popped the hood and everything was fine. but upon further inspection we noticed the the boost controller was inatalled backwords!! Funny thing is, my car has never felt as fast since! then my mom got home and asked why there was three long black streaks going down the middle of the street and through the stop sign! I told her i had no clue!

Yeah, I definitely feel you there. I don't know what I enjoyed more on my test run... the way *everyone* on a street would stop and turn to look because of the obnoxious whistle and exhaust roar, or the spyhunter like oil smoke screen from the tortured 145K B18A bottom end. /me sheds a tear

The first boost exp. i had was late one night round 10 i ha just gotten out of the shower and my sister rolls up in a miata(happens to be a friend or her husband). I was tired but shes like com for a ride it was like 30deg. outside and my hair was still wet from the shower. So i was this ot to be cool. (was just learning what boost was)We flip a U turn and then she drops the clutch.... We didnt burn out just took off boost gauge tapping 6psi 1st bam second bam 3rd bam @ like 80.... she hit the brakes and took me back home... never felt anything like it before. ever since then ive been addicted to boost.... even when i get in a turbo desial i pop one.... he only had a greddy kit w/ 6lbs... my plans 2.0w/ 2000lbs car and 12 psi....

I was about to get married, and knew that I wouldn't be able to drop $3,000.00 on my car in one chunk ever again. So I went out and got a jrsc and an AEM CAI for my ITR. It was only running 5-6 psi then, but it was a huge kick in the ***. I remember that I got on and off the highway three times just so that I could wind it up on the onramps. I had Les Claypoole's Flying Frog Brigade in the cd player, but I didn't listen to anything but the whistling of the CAI and my 1.8 spinning at 8K+ for a few weeks. I wasted a set of tires in about two months.

I just recently increased the boost with a stepper pulley. It was a nice bump, but nothing like the first time. I've already bought a Kamikaze header, and I'm in the middle of negotiating the purchase of a GReddy evo catback. I'm sure that when those are installed (and my cat is gutted) I'll get another significant increase, but I doubt it will be the same as the first time that blower spooled up.

I remember my first time i boosted my car very well. I BLEW IT UP on the first pass after putting it together. I had no boost gauge at the time and i had stock injectors and a fmu. I also had a few beers in me and a heavy foot. Come to find out she ran extremely lean and i cracked all of my ring lands. After a month of rebuilding im back on the road boosting and loving every minute.

I was worried that sumthin might not be working right since it was my first time installing a turbo and it was a custom setup and I was hoping it was worth it. The first time I got on the gas I was smilin ear to ear, then I heard the blow off valve and I knew all the work and money was worth it. Then by the end of the 2nd block I saw a cop. Got pulled over within 1 minute of installing the turbo. The cop let me go with a warning because I was covered in grease and oil from head to toe and I explained to him I was just trying to make sure my car was runnin okay after workin on it 12 straight hours and I was not trying to drive like a jack *** on purpose. I was so excited I would not have been upset about a ticket anyways, I just wanted to get driving again.

My turbo fell off....
lesson of the day...dont weld cast to steel
it was fast for a few seconds, till I slammed 2nd gear, and the exhaust was too stiff for my awesome weld-job
