Default The 'Teg has been fun...

...but the WRX is a whole lot more fun to drive. After spending too much time trying to decided if I wanted to upgrade my blower to 8psi or rip the blower out and go turbo and add the quaffie LSD to the car I decided it was time for a new ride. So now it's time to think about selling the fine rocket. I'll be selling it private party so the question is...

Should I pull the blower off and sell it with a stock motor or sell it as is, blower @6psi and a BTC?

Sell it all as one, it would be hard to sell the blower by itself, and you might get more for a supercharged car, then again, you will alienate the average joe looking for a car.....

the new wrx, detuned, not hte sti or not. is a sweet ride.

i finally drove one for the first time this past sunday. a guy in my club has one. that car is just solid. rides like a lincoln but with a very firm suspension. there is no turbo lag at all. it just gets up and goes. and the fit of the driver seat with the silky smooth steering wheel and excellent cockpit ergonomics is amazing.

kudos to subaru for taking the market by it's throat and having some *****.

Isnt it kinda slow in stock form? how much does that car weigh. I'm thinking a turbo integra would blow its doors off though. Plus you've got that whole opposed head thing going on.

The WRX weighs in at 3100lbs, it's a bit on the hefty side. But the stock suspension is pretty amazing with a nice smooth ride and excelent handling in a car that can take a hard corner better than my Integra could ever hope to dream of. As for speed? The car simply moves. No torque steer. No tire tire chirp. It certainly out accellerates my Integra@6psi. Even in its slightly detuned US trim 227hp w/ 217ft/lb is pretty damn good for a car it's size.

As for being able to beat it? Sure, a tuned turbo Integra could. But then again the WRX is a rally car and is much more at home on the twisties than a 1/4 mile.

wrx is definately for the twisties, I saw one run at the track, was only running 15.4's all day.

damn, 15.4.

well, awd definitely takes some getting use to before realizing the potential. but 15.4 is just bad.

a well tuned gsr at even 6psi will take a stock wrx. but then again, you could just drive the wrx for years in it's form while the turbo gsr wouldn't be such a pleasure maintenance wise. there's always a trade-off with honda turbos.

Sorry but that 15.4 sec pass is all due to the driver. A stock WRX can do mid 14's all day with a decent driver. And after you remove the 3 stock cats and up the boost just a tad, you'll probably be hittin 13's on good tires.

I second that. I've heard of numerous mid-low 14 second passes in bone stock wrx's. It's all about holeshot. -C

Yeah the really sick part about the WRX is the untapped potential in that engine. When you get ready to start tunign that little beast you'll be over 300 hp in your first round of mods and probably have the capacity for 400 with a lot less work than it would take to get a teg up there. Sure, putting the cats all back on every 2 years for smog will be a bitch but nothing compared to pulling out a whole turbo kit.

If I even have to do that much. I'm just about done with the break in on her and it's been REAL hard to keep from punching her up to 7K. The first round of mods to here are going to be pretty limited...HKS TurboTimer V, short shifter, amd suspension. Oh yeah, and a boost gauge. Can you believe they don't include a boost guage as part of the standard package?

Trying to come up with a good second round.

contact the subaru gurus in colorado. damn, forget their name right now.

anyway, i'd say a nice boost controller or computer chip.

the engine bay looks pretty tight though. where the hell would an aftermarket intake go. and if you're not worried about smog, get those cats out.

So the boost gauge in the commercials is an optional feature? Pathetic!

Aside from that I say with a water-cooled turbo (which I imagine it is) and true synthetic oil, don't waste your cash on a timer.
