Default td05hr twin scroll

Just picked up a td05hr 16g (little to no shaft play) for $150. good price? well the thing is. Can i just use a standard log manifold and fab up an adapter plate to it? Does it matter how the manifold is fabricated because the turbo is twin scroll or can a regular manifold be fine? thx

which one did you get? and no you cant just us a log manifold. the manifold has to be a twin scroll!! for it to work the turbo has to work as if it was on a evo to work like it should.

Im working on the same set up

You can use a normal(undivided)manifold. But then you won't have the advantage of divided.
Thatblkguy:please explain me, why you have to use a divided manifold, and why you can't use a normal mani..

It doesn't HAVE to be divided, but you'll benifit greatly in terms of power and spool time with a divided manifold.

hipro u beat me to it

While it does not cause any problems to run a divided inlet turbine housing on a manifold that is of open design, but none of the real benefits (quick spool) of the twin scroll set up will be seen.
so then thare would be no point in using it.

Why would you buy twin scroll and use a log???

You can find a divided mani and it would be a fun turbo++

For that size turbocharger for his application, his "quick spool" won't be an issue.

Please remember that in order to be "twin scroll", you have to use a divided turbine housing, but simply a divided turbine housing does not make it "twin scroll"

You're going to need to have one made, and find the Evo flange to use to fit both that turbo and the bolt pattern to the head.

As mentioned, you'll need one made specificly. THose turbos aren't normally put on Hondas, and is an 'unusual' divided inlet. The vast majority are divided vertically (down the short center), and yours should be down the diagonal. THe collectors aren't as easy to make for the average honda fabricator.

The turbo on a normal manifold will spoll faster than a 50trim t3/t04e for reference, and will get you past 300whp w/o much of an issue.

I know this is a old post to reply to but I did the same thing as another user posted with using a xspower manifold. On my d series it takes more work to pull off since the ports are closer together. you would still have to by a d series exhuast flange and some piping to make it work. A person on homemade turbo just had one custom made and dynoed it. they can put out some rather impressive numbers and spool very fast.

Would you care to link to the HMT thread? I really can't find it, and not for a lack of looking. Am I to assume the XS mani was basicly a NA header converted to a topmount style, and kept divided?
