Take a look at this B16 Block (PICS)
I went to a local shop today and saw this b16 block. pretty much it is a blockguard welded in. The thing is, usually i dont see this type of welding/machining. Is this common or different?
How strong does it look to yall??

WHOAA!!! that looks like ****!! when i had my blockgaurd welded in, i was right there telling them what to do. i told them to just weld the BG to the block and not the cylinders. they did just that...and it was basically just tack welding it on the edges against the block.

that looks crazy,im no expert but id aggree with the others.the cylinder walls are probably more weak now from the heat of the welder, probably warped since its aluminum.plus looks like it will get some pretty inconsistant cooling from the sloppy welding.but who knows.could work great.

Hmm... if you are going to the trouble to buy a block guard, have it welded in place, deck the block, then have it o-ringed right at the transition from iron to aluminum, why the heck not just have the block resleeved? Although creative, this will never be as strong as full ductile iron sleeves.

That is horrid! There's spots where the outside of the cylinder was burnt through! It's not supposed to be welded to the cylinder...

ok not only did someone PAY to have this done,
but then they are gona THINK it is gona be safer.....that thing looks like it was Stick welded....
so when it overheats and the cylinders warp it was worth it right
