I seen this guys setup a while back and he had this screen on his inlet for his turbo and it didnt look like some homeade ****, like a screen that clipped on or something, instead of running an intake with a filter this seems a lot more space efficient... anyone kno where they can be found..?? it seems our search function has never been used for these things lol..
i dont know of any premade screen kits, but I just went to home depot and got screen for a screen door. I have not had any problems yet.

just cut a small peice and use a clamp or something to hold it on...?? i was thinking that, just scared of turbo suckin that **** in, i've seen some pretty bad aftermath pics from homeade devices gone wrong...
i ran this on mine for awhile but where i live its wet way to often and the roads around here are shitty just be careful with it and i didnt notice to much of a difference

I did that, works great. Screens been on for months, turbo still looks brand new.

here's the xenocron piece. http://www.xenocron.com/catalo....html

cast iron manifold, no a/c..... and yeah those are the exact items i was talking about... how come it wouldnt be good on a D/D..??
I dont know why nobody ever seems to mention this... but unfiltered air will wear down your cylinder walls. Point blank period, no debating it.
Boost by itself promotes blowby. Are you sure you want to add to that by running your turbo without a filter? It seems your thinking more of protecting your turbo and not your engine.
Those type of screens are made for racing engines or short term use, or not daily driven. If you plan on rebuilding once a year then go ahead with the screen.

pretty much sums it up. you wouldnt run your CAI with no filter would you? with no AC you should be able to fab something up easily. why cant you just put a filter on the turbo itself?

i tried an the filter hit the block....
yeah i guess i should just try to use my intelligent side to create a lil something.. i have my aem CAI still layin in garage with a newer K&N filter, got my new 4" cutter wheel for my drill too, so look forward to some pics of me hackin away lol...

because a screen snaps onto the inside and a K&N filter goes on the outside..?? thats about only circumfrance change i can see...

In situations like these, this is what I do:
I take two pieces of screen and I sandwich a piece of t-shirt between them. This gives the same kind of flow and space saving, but it filters out about 500% more particles, so you're not destroying your cylinder walls, oil passages and turbo.
Simple, cheap, effective. Make it so.

You have testing to back up your statements or is this just opinion?
I have been using one of my turbo screens on my car for a while...its not a daily driver and I dont put a lot of miles on the motor and I dont drive in inclimate weather and I wouldnt advise one of these on a daily either.
They are small so they fit in tight location where most filters dont fit...and something is always better than nothing

hey xenocron, did u get my message in that other post that I replied to u..?? I was j/w if u guys offered stickers to represent ur co.? i bought a chip kit a couple weeks ago and it didnt come with one I was j/w cuz a lot of the guys at the track ask me about my **** and I mention ur name for the chip kits and tuning issues...
a screen does restrict flow. i had a noticable power loss when using a screen compared to a normal foam filter. i went through many ways of trying it and the filter was best. i had to make a 90* bend pipe to get it to fit but its still better than screen.

I have no documented testing... but I proved this to myself at my previous job with an industrial vacuum cleaner lol. I had a lot of time on my hands (nightshift).
The testing may have been crude but the results are honestly black and white - there's really no debate based on what I've seen with my own eyes. A filter flows more than a screen, period.
I was testing this with a DIRTY (very dirty) filter half the size of your typical honda cone filter and screen that looked like it would let in the same, if not more, air in than your typical home depot stuff.
If someone ships me an old filter I will provide video proof and settle this once and for all.
I dont give opinions on technical stuff like this on HT.
