Default Symptoms of a failing ignitor???

I was wondering what the symptoms of a failing ignitor would be? If I'm cruising on the interstate at a constant speed, the car has little hiccups. I think I've narrowed it down to the ignitor. I just replaced the distributor cap, rotor, plugs, and wires.

Also, where could I purchase an ignitor?

Definetly Tach, RPMs just jump around. Then the car shuts off.

$220 I believe for the Igniter, ouch!

Not positive on your set-up, but in most cases the ignitor gets too hot and shuts down the engine completely. Engine will start after it cools down. Ultimately it just fails completely and you have no spark. I'd look for a short somewhere assuming your not getting a CEL.

Nope, no CEL. But on the other hand, I am having the exact same syptoms that kidkutz is describing. At idle, my idle is not steady...it bounces up and and down but not erractically. Also the car won't start right after turning it off. OMG, $200+ for a new ignitor! That's gonna suck.

$100.00? I was just quoted $275 for one from Acura. I guess the Prelude ones are a lot cheaper.

But beware, if your ignitor is failing, it could also be a symptom of a failing coil. Only sure way to know is to scope it out using an amp meter (clamp variety).

i fixed my problem the plug it self the pin connectors where loose i could touch the connector and the idle would jump or cut the car off .

My fix i got out the pick tool and push down the clips to make better contact trust i bought a NEW ACCEL 11076 coil tried a working ignitor same bought a NEW ignitor same so one day is moving the harness and VIOLA i find the loose ness in the TPS singal , Trust it did'nt do it ALL the time RIGHT thats whats happening probally with some of you guys.

check the pin connectors if you KNOW your parts that you replaced ARE in Fact NEW.

MY 2cents.
