Default swapping pistons.. need to remove motor?

i know.. this might be the dumbest question ever.. but.. i have heard it is possible to swap pistons from the underside of the car. is that true? If so.. do u get it up on a lift.. undo the belts.. the oil pan.. oil pick up and unbolt the crank? i have a N/A sleeved and high compression engine installed in my prelude but someone who is interested in purchasing it would want to go boost. i know u cant go boost running 11.5:1 comp so the pistons would have to be changed. do u have to un-install the engine and take the head off to do the swap? i know its probably a dumb question but i heard it somewhere... just looking for the truth.

thanks guys for the help.

yes its possible but u cant pull the crank with out dropping the tranny, you pull the head, oil pan, windage tray, rod caps n push the pistons out the top, use a ball honer to re hone then re gap new rings n put em back in. takes about a day.

ahh no $hit. so remove the pistons but leave the crank still attached by going through the head.. how much do u think it would cost to have this done by a professional? and i dont consider myself a professional. lol

that sounds like a good time to change over some cams and springs... i mean.. might as well.

yeah, i did rods and pistons while the motor was in the car, on the lift at my shop. it was quite easy, and didnt require the process of pulling a motor out. as long as you have the right equipment its no problem at all.

the main journal bearings were replaced when the engine went through the entire rebuild for n/a. that was done all of like 2 weeks ago.. or so.
