Default Stock oil cooling

Some year GSR's and all ITR's have an oil cooler between the oil filter and the block.

The first thing I'd like to know is why they removed this from the later GSR's. I guess this goes along with the power steering cooler that was also removed.

Also, can one of these be installed on a car that doesn't have it? I think it has to do with the block itself and you may need a different water pipe in the back with the extra bung.

Question 3: has anyone attempted this with a Greddy/GE oil sandwitch? I am worried about clearance of having 2 sandwitch type devices and having to put a filer on there.

Still debating if this (rather cheap mod) is even worth doing rather than spending a good amount on a third party oil cooler....

Yeah, it is the metal loop in front of the A/C condenser.

I am also interested in getting one of these oil coolers but I have the Greddy sandwich adapter too, so clearance might be an issue.

i have seen people use the oil sandwhich and the stock oil cooler with no clearance issues
search and you should find some pics.
i also read that the sandwhich adaptor does not have enough clearance for preludes

Are you sure? Its that metal loop in front of my fans. I dont see how useful it really is. An oil cooler would seem more logical to me.

the 88-91 preludes had this stock oil cooler on the back of the block as well...I run the GE sandwich adapter on my prelude with the oil cooler with no clearance issues

does it cool that much? i ask this because i drive a 25 mile commute each way and highway cruising rpm is at 4200 @ 80mph. itr tranny. does this sustained rpm heat up the oil that the stock oil cooler is ineffective?

i have to add about 1/2 qt every 500 miles.
