Default Stock internals on boost

How much power can stock d16 rods hold ? and pistons ? ive heard stock sleeves will hold 400whp ? ,,, if i used stock rods and pistons/sleeves with only acl race bearings and arp rod bolts how much power would be safe ? And what is the weakest link link on a d16 ? Few questions to answer there but can some1 show me some facts on those ?

A stock D can safely make 220-240whp. The weak point is the rod followed by the crap ringlands on our stock, cast pistons. The sleeves will be fine into the 400whp range, but not much beyond that. If you run stock rods and _______ the rods will still limit you to 220-240whp.

y7/y8 spin bearings more often than z6...look into shimming and porting your oil pump if you have one

shimming ups pressure but reduces flow... all the pressure in the world wont prevent something from spinning if it has no flow.

and yes, y8 bottom ends blow. i spun every bearing + the cam...

Hence why I said shimming and porting. use a z6 crank if you can find a good one

i made 307 on e85 stock mini-me, reused headgasket and bolts, and junk ebay parts. only a few pulls though. had to turn it down because i was at 120% duty cycle on 450cc injectors. turned it down to 270 and held up fine. its all in the tune.

Even the other person posting 307 stated he had to turn it down. It can be done, just not with any probability of reliability.

i turned it down because i had 350 bucks into the whole car and buying a set of injectors was out of the question. lol. it leaned out around 5500 even at 60 base pressure.

Single cams are so cheap how could NOT afford to build it? A vitara build can be done fairly cheap with LS rods ( just "notch" the block ) and get headstuds and a HG.

I say just get her on the dyno, make some power and go from there. now adays d series and ls b seires are so cheap that it may be cheaper then just throw a new motor in

B-series is going up everyday due to idiots putting holes in the blocks by not preparing correctly

Ringlands mean the block can be saved. Holes means the block is trashed, thereby making the price increase because there is One less available b-series block to be used.

And I'm saying the only thing we break on a stock motor is ringlands not holes in blocks

My friend made 270whp on his y8 but shortly after he cracked #3 ringland, rods held up fine

eh, if we throw a rod and dont damage a sleeve or any bearing surfaces we weld the holes up and rebuild.
