Stock d15 OVERBOOST PROBLEM 16+PSI ! ?HELP?
ok, i will twell u the specs on this build i just finished and u tell me whats wrong,
the car was done just to sell so i will be selling it in about 1 week but i want to know first why its boosting 16+ psi on stock motor:
96 civic cx hatchback sheel.
d15z1 STOCK CIVIC VX obd-1 motor ,stock
original d16y7 tranny
using stock d16y7 ecu BUT motor idles fine so what ever.
using the D16Y7 INTAKE MANIFOLD
Fully advanced distributor
vtec activated by button.
log style manifold
ebay t4 turbo HUGE
custom 2.5" downpipe and full exhaust.
38mm ebay wastegate {states 8 psi }
2" intercooler piping,
NO BOV
NO intercooler
stock 190 civic vx/cx injectors
CAR runs fine and make boost and has plunty of power.
but the boost gauge shows it make over 16+psi,
when doing a 2nd gear pull at around 6k rpm its super ****ing laud and boost gauge makes 16+ almost 20
i have tried 2 different boost gauges and both state the same,
i think everyhing is hooked up right, whats the problme ? can it be possibole ??
car if ****ing super fast !! faster then the gsr civic i have,
I INSTALLED A BOV NOW, + i think my wastegate os hooked up wrong.

Well if this is real, your wastegate is just too tiny to hold that turbo down where you want it on that motor. . . . Add another one.

apparently your wastegate isn't doing the job you need it to....
by the looks, you are fortunate this hasn't blown up yet.. (or did you neglect to tell us it was tuned?)
post pics when it blows!

your problem in not having a bov with is holdin the pressure in and not letting it out ...get a bov and that will fix your problem

Your problem could be a number of things. Possible WG diaphragm damage, wrong spring, and that horrible WG flange placement on that manifold. Either way, that motor is gonna blow soon in its present state if you keep driving it and getting into boost.
And please put a dumptube on that WG before you mess up that oterherwise clean engine bay.

Re: Stock d15 OVERBOOST PROBLEM 16+PSI ! ?HELP?
I THINK I KNOW WHY IM OVERBOOSTING,
thers 2 ports on the wastegate should both be connected to the chargepiping, or just the lower one and the top open to atmosphere ??
and i installed a bov now .
and how much psi is safe to run so i can sell it and no tune ??
and so why did it boost all the way to 16+ ? can the d15z1 do that ?

apparently noone has noticed in the video that his waste gate vacuum line was hooked up wrong. Im pretty sure the line is supposed to go to the bottom line not the top. And for god sakes do not sell that car to anyone. Unless your selling it for like a grand.

Re: Stock d15 OVERBOOST PROBLEM 16+PSI ! ?HELP?
look at the pictures.. this is the correct setup. vacuum on top and pressure from compressor on side. In this way u can solve the overboost problem.
Also check if diaphram is locked by removing the WG spring.It must move freely.
And finally replace the WG spring with softer one. I think around 4 psi will be ok.
On mine i run 4.35 psi on stock b16a2. Go tuned before selling it
These are mine suggestions

Is this how my boost/vacuum is suppose to be hooked up?
right now i have,
boost gauge+bov hooked up to the same port on intake manifold BEFORe throttel body.{bellow TB as its D16Y7 INTAKE MANI}
botom port of WG to the compressor housing
Top port of WG open to atmosphere,
is the following correct or no ?

Re: Stock d15 OVERBOOST PROBLEM 16+PSI ! ?HELP?
ok, now i took it ROUND TH BLCOK, NOW ITS PERFECT BOOST 8PSI, which is what spring is and bov activates nicely.
before it was preety much now wastegate so it was infinate boost, so thats why when i was in 3rd gear and on the floor it went to 20 on the gauge,
oh and this turbo is way bigger then the t3/t4 hybrid ebay ones, this is more like t70, believe me i was suprised this d15z1 could pull the turbo, but once it spool at 4k and if u hold it its like a jet, but im selling it now.

Its still unwise to beat on it untuned, especially with stock ECU and injectors. Stay out of boost until you sell it, and make the buyer aware of the stock parts. GL with the sale.

BOOM!
It is seriously a crime to sell that car to anyone in that condition. Even if you can talk someone who doesn't know anything about it into buying it, you're straight up ripping them off because it will blow up very soon. If it keeps going to 16-20 psi you shouldn't even be driving it, let alone ripping on it. You shouldn't even be going into boost at ll without a tune and proper injectors. The lack of IC is just going to make it go boom sooner. And with that much power and the way you're slipping the clutch from a standstill, I can't believe that clutch hasn't gone yet either...
